PROCLAMATION
Park and Recreation Month: July 2026
The month of July is recognized nationwide as Park and Recreation Month, celebrating the
vital role parks, recreation programs, and natural spaces play in strengthening communities
and improving quality of life.
In Columbia Heights, our parks, trails, recreation facilities, and community programs provide
opportunities for residents of all ages to connect, learn, play, and thrive. These spaces support
physical activity, promote mental well-being, and encourage meaningful connections among
neighbors.
Parks and recreation services contribute to the health of our community by providing access to
nature, recreational opportunities, youth programming, environmental education, and
activities that foster lifelong wellness. They also serve as gathering places that bring people
together, strengthen community bonds, and enhance the quality of life for all residents.
Our parks and recreation systems support the economic and environmental well-being of
Columbia Heights by preserving natural resources, increasing community attractiveness, and
creating welcoming public spaces that benefit residents and visitors alike.
We recognize and appreciate the dedicated parks and recreation professionals, volunteers, and
community partners whose work ensures that these valuable resources remain accessible,
inclusive, and enjoyable for everyone.
We celebrate Park and Recreation Month to highlight the importance of parks, recreation
programs, and natural spaces in building a healthier, stronger, and more connected
community.
I, Amada Marquez Simula, Mayor of Columbia Heights, do hereby proclaim July 2026 to be
Park and Recreation Month in the City of Columbia Heights, County of Anoka, State of
Minnesota, U.S.A.
