HomeMy WebLinkAbout1717ORDINANCE NO. 1717 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 3.315 OF THE CITY CODE RELATING TO THE YOUTH COMMISSION The City of Columbia Heights does ordain: Section 1 Chapter 3.315 of the Columbia Heights City Code as currently read is amended as follows: § 3.315 YOUTH COMMISSION. (A) Establishment. A Youth Commission is hereby established to serve as an advisory body to the Columbia Heights City Council, and other Boards and Commissions as appropriate, inspire and bring to light new ideas from a youth perspective, create an educational environment for youth looking to expand their knowledge of government and leadership functions, and provide experience -building opportunities for area youth seeking increased community and local government engagement. (1) The Youth Commission shall confer with and advise Boards and Commissions as appropriate, on matters concerning youth within the city. Youth Commission members are non -voting members and act in an advisory capacity. (2) The Commission shall execute its duties and authority in accordance with the respective Board and Commission by-laws. (B) Membership. Youth Commission Members will be appointed to respective Boards and Commissions and must be within the age range of 14 to 18 years old and residents of the City of Columbia Heights and/or Attend Independent School District 13. Terms run from June 1 to May 31. Section 2 This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after 30 days after its passage. The purpose of this ordinance is to establish, upon passage, updated membership parameters for the Youth Commission to have terms run from June 1 to May 31. This is a summary of Ordinance No. 1717. A copy of the entire text of the Ordinance is available for public inspection during regular office hours at City Hall, by standard or electronic mail, or at www.columbiaheightsmn.gov.
