APPROVAL OF MINUTES 1. December 13, 2023 Youth Commission Meeting Minutes. MOTION: Move to approve the December 13, 2023 Youth Commission Meeting minutes. CORRESPONDENCE OLD BUSINESS 2. "The First Thirty" (Book). Commission members will have read the book over winter break, and discuss at the January 2024 meeting. 3. SnowBLAST Volunteers. Discuss the Youth Commission volunteering and assisting with social media for February 3, 2024 SnowBLAST. NEW BUSINESS 4. Discuss Ideas for Speakers at Future Meetings. ROLL CALL/STATUS OF MEMBERSHIP Members Present: Israelson, Kucera, Mamo, Rogne, Tabor, Williams Council Liaison: Mayor Márquez Simula Members Absent: Hussein, Marquez, Morales Also Present: Sara Ion, City Clerk; Will Rottler, Communications and Engagement Coordinator; Wolid Ahmed; Anoka County Elections, Ton Hunt, Anoka County Elections. APPROVAL OF AGENDA MOTION: Move to approve the December 13, 2023, Youth Commission agenda. All Ayes, motion carried. APPROVAL OF MINUTES MOTION: Move to approve the November 8, 2023, Youth Commission minutes. All Ayes, motion carried. OLD BUSINESS Review Plans for Reading "The First Thirty" (Book). Commission members confirmed that they will read the book “The First Thirty” over winter break and will discuss the book at the January 10, 2024, meeting. NEW BUSINESS Presentation, Q&A with Anoka County Elections. Anoka County Elections Manager Tom Hunt and Anoka County Lead Elections Specialist Wolid Ahmed gave a presentation to the Youth Commission regarding their positions at the Count y, their educational background and experience that led them to the position. Additionally, Hunt and Wolid answered Youth Commissioner questions regarding registering to vote, the voting process, and becoming an election judge. SnowBLAST Volunteers. Communications Coordinator Rottler discussed the opportunities for the Youth Commission to volunteer for different activities at SnowBLAST as well as assisting with social media the day of the event on February 3. 2 Item 1. Communications Coordinator Rottler brought forward ideas for how the Youth Commission could get more involved in the 2024 Pets in the Park and Monarch Festival.
