2. Approve the January 10, 2024 Youth Commission Meeting Minutes.
MOTION: Move to approve the January 10, 2024 Youth Commission Meeting minutes.
OLD BUSINESS
3. "The First Thirty" (Book).
Continued discussion of book "The First Thirty" from the January 10, 2024 Commission
Meeting.
NEW BUSINESS
4. Recap of SnowBLAST.
5. Discuss Date for Minneapolis Water Works Tour.
6. Activity for Pets in the Park.

MINUTES
CALL TO ORDER
Meeting called to order at approximately 6:04 pm by Commission Chair Rogne.
ROLL CALL/STATUS OF MEMBERSHIP
Members Present: Hussein, Morales, Israelson, Kucera, Mamo, Rogne, Tabor,
Council Liaison: Mayor Márquez Simula
Members Absent: Marquez, Williams
Also Present: Sara Ion, City Clerk; Will Rottler, Communications and Engagement Coordinator
APPROVAL OF AGENDA
MOTION: Move to approve the Agenda as presented. All Ayes, motion carried.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
MOTION: Move to approve the December 13, 2023 Youth Commission Meeting minutes. All Ayes,
motion carried.
OLD BUSINESS
"The First Thirty" (Book).
Commissioners mentioned that they were not fully prepared to discuss the book. There was a brief
discussion around the main themes of the book, and Communications and Engagement Coordinator
Rottler asked the commissioners some thought provoking questions on what community means to
them, and what their favorite book was.
The commissioners all agreed to make sure that they were prepared to discuss the book at the
February 13, 2024 meeting.
SnowBLAST Volunteers.
There was continued discussion regarding the Youth Commission volunteering and assisting with social
media for February 3, 2024 SnowBLAST. Communications and Engagement Coordinator Rottler will
send out the sign up survey for commissioners to select a volunteer shift.
NEW BUSINESS
Discuss Ideas for Speakers at Future Meetings.
Commissioners discussed having members of the Anoka County Job task force come and speak to the

group, as well as SACA. Additionally, the commissioners brainstormed ideas for the Fire Explorers to
come and speak to the group as well.
