HomeMy WebLinkAbout2021-20RESOLUTION NO.2O2T-2O A resolution of the City Council for the City of Columbia Heights, Minnesota supporting pursuit of 2021 Local Road tmprovement Program funding from MnDOT for the Fridley and Columbia Heights 53'd Avenue project. WHEREAS, the Fridley and Columbia Heights 53'd Avenue project includes rehabilitation of 53'd Avenue from Central Avenue (TH 65) to University Avenue, including multi-use trail, ADA compliant sidewalk, and pedestrian level lighting, and WHEREAS, the Fridley and Columbia Heights 53'd Avenue project provides opportunity to create a safe route for bicyclists, pedestrians, commercial and transit oriented traffic, and WHEREAS, the Local Road lmprovement Program (LRIP) administered by the Minnesota Department of Transportation makes available up to $1,250,000 to apply towards projects on loca! roads that are regionally significant, result in safety improvements, address transportation deficiencies, and contribute to economic development, and WHEREAS, the proposed year for project construction is 2023, and WHEREAS, the City of Columbia Heights wil! enter into a Joint Powers Agreement with the City of Fridley for the matching share of the improvements within the City of Columbia Heights, Now, therefore, in accordance with the foregoing and all ordinances and regulations of the City of Columbia Heights, the City Council of the City of Columbia Heights makes the following: FINDINGS OF FACT l. The City Council hereby supports the reconstruction and rehabilitation of 53'd Avenue from Central Avenue (TH 65) to University Avenue, including multi-use trail, ADA compliant sidewalk, and pedestrian level !ighting. 2. The City Counci! hereby supports the City of Fridley's pursuit of Local Road lmprovement Program (LRIP) funding and authorizes staff to prepare and submit such application. 3. The City Counci! hereby provides assurance that the City of Columbia Heights will pay all costs associated with the project within the city Iimits and that City staff will ensure that all aspects of LRIP funding requirements are met and the project's schedule is adhered to.
