PROGRAMS a. In this month’s virtual LEGO Challenge guinea pig walked kids through making a trap door. Farrah Briest and guinea pig help kids learn creative problem solving and design thinking skills. b. Virtual storytime concluded at the end of this month. We will be on break until January 11th. Winnie Coyne will be highlighting staff recommended picture book on Facebook while we are on break. c. ISD 13 was on break November 12th and 13th. Growing Green hearts ran a MN Geochemistry program on the 12th at Huset Park for 10 kids. Kids had fun learning about chemistry and even got to make their own volcanos in the snow. Folks could tune in to a Story Quilts self-guided activity on November 13th. This program was legacy funded and available for a week on ACL’s Facebook page. d. On November 14th, we hosted our final Family Discovery program at Silverwood Park. 18 kids and caregivers learned about geocaching through hands on experiences. e. 60 people enjoyed our Grumpy Bird story stroll set up at Prestemon Park from November 17th to November 18th. f. Tween Book Club was rescheduled from 11/24 to 12/1 because I was out sick. We had 6 kids participate in the rescheduled virtual event. Book orders placed this month include SLJ 8/20, Growing Minds 8/20, and Booklist 8/1/20 in addition to Adds and Replacements. b. Weeding of J Nonfiction continues. Weeded music CDs. III. PROJECTS a. Monitored and managed fall program registration b. Created and compiled Activity Kits for Birth-K, 1-5, and Grades 6 and up for January and February c. Planned Winter Storytimes d. Updated and managed book displays e. Prepared winter program contracts f. Prepared and installed November story stroll g. Created Library Intro video of EL Highland Family Night h. Winter program info inputted into Outlook and LibCal i. Updated standing order list j. Prepared for Tween Book Club k. Prepared grab and go activity bags for December IV. GRANTS, MEETINGS, COMMUNITY 11/5: 21CCLC Advisory Meeting- virtual 11/17: Comprise Training- virtual 11/20: 21CCLC Joint Partners Meeting- virtual V. STAFF a. Kelly Olson worked on book orders. She completed her usual tasks including magazines, receiving books, fulfilling bulk loans and purchase requests. b. Farrah Briest has been working on selection tools and processing. She has taken over managing the Juvenile Fiction Book Display as well as the seasonal bulletin board. She continues her work with the LEGO Challenge videos and Bulk Loans.
