PROGRAMS a. November’s Tween Book Club was rescheduled for 12/1 due to illness. We had 6 tweens attend virtually to discuss Doodleville. b. In this month’s virtual LEGO Challenge guinea pig walked kids through making snowflakes. c. Thank You, Omu! was our December story stroll title. It was up at Huset Park from Tuesday, December 15th through Wednesday, December 16th. d. 13 kids participated in a Super Circuits program put on by the Works Museum. Kids left the kit-based virtual program with working hand held fans. e. January Activity Kits were released for pick up on Tuesday, December 28th. Registration for kits is full with a lengthy waitlist. II. COLLECTION a. Book orders were on pause this month. b. Updated standing order titles. c. Weeding of J Nonfiction was completed. Weeding of YA Fiction has begun. III. PROJECTS a. Monitored and managed winter program registration. b. Created and compiled Activity Kits for Birth-K, 1-5, and Grades 6 and up. c. Updated and managed book displays. d. Planned spring programming. e. Prepared and installed December story strolls. f. Filmed and edited winter virtual storytimes. g. Began planning and brainstorming for summer. h. Planned January Tween Book Club. i. Watched the following webinars: Managing Children’s Services: Supervising the Youth Services Department and Managing Children’s Services: Financial Management. IV. GRANTS, MEETINGS, COMMUNITY 12/1: Project Ready Informational Webinar 12/3: 21CCLC Joint Partners Meeting- virtual 12/18: 21CCLC Joint Partners Meeting- virtual 12/22: 21CCLC/MDE Meeting- virtual V. STAFF a. Kelly Olson worked on book orders. She completed her usual tasks including magazines, receiving books, fulfilling bulk loans and purchase requests. b. Farrah Briest has been working on selection tools and processing. She is also brainstorming and creating content such as LEGO Challenge videos and Activity Kit suggestions. Additionally, she created a new bulletin board and decorations for the children’s space.
