I. PROGRAMS
a. In this month’s virtual LEGO Challenge guinea pig was inspired by the construction going on at the
Northeast Bank Building and she created a wrecking ball.
b. Virtual storytime continued this month.
c. Story Strolls were held at both Sullivan and LaBelle Park this month. 75 people participated at Sullivan
Park and [insert number] at LaBelle.
d. Stroller Storytime continued into October. We had to cancel one session due to rain, but had a beautiful
day for our final session in which 9 caregivers and babies sang songs and read stories as we walked
around LaBelle Pond.
e. Youth had two program options the Thursday and Friday leading up to MEA weekend. In the morning, 5
teens began work on our youth created mural inspired by a Maya Angelou quote. The rest of the
canvases will be completed via take and make kits that will be made available to all ages. This camp was
a collaboration with local artist, Rebecca Krueger. In the afternoon 2 youth met virtually with another
local artist, Dennis Lo, to learn about Manga drawing techniques.
f. Family Discovery Days on 101/10 and 10/17 were a great success. On 10/10, 48 adults and kids watched
a bilingual puppet show and on 10/17, 77 adults and kids learned about Minnesota Raptors.
g. We cancelled Teen Book Club again because we had only one registrant. We currently have 2 registered
for November and have had more interest in the club over all, so I’m hopeful that we will be able to
move forward with November’s meeting.
h. Our second month of Grab and Go Discovery Kits commenced with 24 birth to K, 24Grades 1-5, and
12Grades 6 and up kits being distributed on Wednesday, October 28th. The goal with these kits is to
provide parents a number of activities that they can easily do with their children. The planning and
supply gathering has already been done for them.
