PROGRAMS a. This month’s virtual LEGO Challenge introduced guinea pig who was challenged to make her own musical instrument. b. Virtual storytime began again on Monday, September 14th. Video’s premiere on Facebook every Monday at 10:30 a.m. and stay up for a full week. c. Story Strolls were held at both Huset Park and Ramsdell Park this month. 35 people participated at Huset Park and 62 at Ramsdell. d. Stroller Storytime’s at Labelle Park invite parents with kids birth to 24 months to join us on an outdoor socially distanced storytime experience as we walk around LaBelle Pond. We met 2 times in September. It was nice to see families and kids in person again. e. We cancelled Teen Book Club this September because no one registered. I’m working on getting the word out to teachers and will try again in October. f. We offered our first Family Discovery Day in partnership with the Rec Department on Saturday, September 26th. 78 people came out to watch Native Pride Dancers in a socially distanced performance. The highlight for me was the last dance when Larry Yazzi invited the entire audience to get up and dance with hm. g. Our first month of Grab and Go Discovery Kits commenced with 24 birth to K, 25 Grades 1-5, and 8 Grades 6 and up kits being distributed on Wednesday, September 30th. The goal with these kits is to provide parents a number of activities that they can easily do with their children. The planning and supply gathering has already been done for them. Book orders placed this month include: SLJ 4/20, Booklist 4/15/20, Growing Minds 5/2020, Adds/Replacements, Graphic Novels b. Weeding of J Nonfiction began. III. PROJECTS a. Finalized fall programming contracts b. Began planning for winter programming c. Planned October’s tween book club d. Monitored and managed fall program registration e. Created and compiled Activity Kits for Birth-K, 1-5, and Grades 6 and up f. Prepared and installed Sept story strolls g. Created Bulk Loan schedule for ICS h. Filmed and edited virtual storytimes IV. GRANTS, MEETINGS, COMMUNITY 9/30: M3 Training for 21CCLC Grant (virtual) V. STAFF a. Kelly Olson worked on book orders. She completed her usual tasks including magazines, receiving books, fulfilling bulk loans and purchase requests. b. Farrah Briest has been working on selection tools and processing. She is also brainstorming and creating content such as LEGO Challenge videos and Activity Kit suggestions.
