I. Adult Programs and Displays
a. Virtual programs continued with the exception of the outdoor Bike Fix-it Clinic on
September 12. Twenty-six people attended the clinic, and 13 bikes were repaired and/or
tuned. The bike clinic was conducted by 3 volunteer bike enthusiasts, with facemasks and
social distance practices in place.
b. The library partnered with the Parks and Recreation department to offer two “Poems in the
Park” events at Columbia Heights Parks on Sept. 10 (Sullivan Park) and Sept. 24 (LaBelle
Park). Five classic poems were displayed on large signboards throughout the parks for each
event. A total of 61 people attended in September.
c. The adult book club met virtually for the first time since February. Three adults discussed
“The Great Gatsby.”
d. In partnership with the Metropolitan Area Agency on Aging, the library hosted an “Updates
to Medicare” virtual workshop on Sept. 17. Five adults participated.
e. “Fused Glass Suncatchers,” a Legacy-funded online event with Artistry, is scheduled for
Sept. 29. Twelve adults are registered.
f. Adult displays included cooking and new books.
g. Adult “Take and Make” craft kits were made available at the AskMe desk. The September
kit was beaded lanyards. Forty-one kits were distributed.
h. The Centennial Celebration glass display case this month highlighted the 1920s.
i. Curbside materials pickup continued throughout the month, offered in some capacity on
Monday-Friday each week.
j. The virtual ESL conversation circle continues, Monday evenings at 6 pm. The program
is offered in partnership with the Adult Basic Education Center.
II. Meetings
a. I met with our two new evening supervisors for training on Sept. 2.
b. I met with Friend of the Library Kathy Super to discuss the glass display case on Sept. 18.
c. I had my annual review with Renee on Sept. 21.
d. I met with Will Rottler from the Communications department to discuss future
programming on Sept. 23.
III. Projects
a. Adult audiobooks were ordered.
b. Weeding completed in the adult mystery section.
c. Many crafting supplies for adult and youth were ordered.
IV. Other
a. Attended the eLM mini expo online Sept. 21.
b. Four At-Home-Deliveries were made, following safe, curbside procedures.
