I. BUILDING MAINTENANCE AND EQUIPMENT
A. An exterior window on the north side of the building was broken. Staff are currently
seeking bids for repair and replacement.
II. TECHNOLOGY
A. Periodic meetings with Anoka County library and information technology staff have
begun for the Comprise public computer management software implementation. The
project will formally begin on August 10 with an estimated completion date of mid-
October.
III. COLLECTION
A. Adult print materials were selected from the January and February issues of Kirkus
Reviews and the February and March issues of Booklist. Books from bestselling authors
with July and August publication dates were ordered. Juvenile print materials were
selected from the January, February and March issues of Booklist, the March and April
issues of Growing Minds and the March issue of School Library Journal. Juvenile CD
books and DVDs were ordered.
B. Weeding was completed in adult mysteries A-F and adult nonfiction 000-299. Weeding of
easy nonfiction continued.
IV. PROGRAMS AND VIRTUAL EVENTS
A. Two members of the Library Board met in a hybrid Zoom/in-person meeting on July 1; the
meeting is unofficial because no quorum was present.
B. A virtual program for kids, Zombie Apocalypse Engineering Camp, was held July 6-9.
C. Story strolls were offered in Keyes Park on July 7 and LaBelle Park on July 21.
D. A Virtual Lego Challenge was offered on July 8.
E. Distribution of free summer lunches continued on four Mondays.
F. The English as a Second Language conversation circle met virtually on Monday evenings.
G. Virtual storytimes were offered on four Mondays in June.
H. Four contactless deliveries of materials were made to an At-Home patron.
V. STAFF
A. Library Supervisor Elaine Dietz-Mamaril retired July 10.
B. Library Supervisor Barbara Kondrick resigned effective July 31.
C. I met with Library Aide Farrah Briest for her one-year performance evaluation.
D. Youth Services Librarian Brianna Belanger spoke to an ESL high school class.
E. Adult Services Librarian Cortni O’Brien participated in the City’s centennial planning
committee and attended Minnesota Library Association and MELSA virtual programs or
conversations.
VI. FOUNDATION
VII. MISC
A. I met with the city manager and department heads on July 8, 13 and with the Council on
July 20.
B. I met with the Anoka County Library Management team on July 16.
C. I met with the Public Services team of the Anoka County Library on July 1 and 22.
D. I presented a proposed 2020 budget to the City Manager and Finance Director on July 10.
E. With the assistance of Human Resources Director Patricia Sweep, I interviewed five
applicants for the Library Supervisor position.
VIII. LIBRARY CLOSURE
A. The library was reopened to the public at 50% capacity, for limited hours and services on
July 6. Hours of operation are Monday – Wednesday: 1 -7 pm, Thursday and Friday: 11
am – 4 pm, Saturday: 11 am – 3 pm.
B. Quarantining of returned materials was discontinued.
C. Contactless curbside pick-up was available by arrangement.
