I. BUILDING MAINTENANCE AND EQUIPMENT
A. Horwitz staff discovered low coolant levels in one of the compressors in air conditioning
unit #1 during the quarterly maintenance visit. The leak was repaired and the coolant
replaced. Then a second compressor in the same unit developed a similar problem
resulting in a substantial unexpected repair.
B. The damaged mirror in the men’s restroom was replaced.
II. TECHNOLOGY
A. Information Services staff contributed to a “statement of work” for the Comprise public
computer management and cost recovery software to be implemented by the Anoka
County Library in 2020.
III. COLLECTION
A. Adult print materials were selected from the Winter and February issues of Library
Journal. Paperback mysteries, romances, and westerns were also ordered. Adult audio
books and DVDs were ordered. Juvenile print materials were selected from the Winter
issue of School Library Journal and the January and February issues of Growing Minds.
Juvenile book/CD combo kits were ordered.
B. Weeding was completed in adult fiction P-Z, fantasy and science fiction collections.
Weeding of easy fiction (E) was completed; weeding of easy nonfiction was begun.
IV. PROGRAMS AND VIRTUAL EVENTS
A. The Library Board met in a hybrid Zoom/in-person meeting on June 3.
B. Story strolls were offered in Huset Park on June 9 and Sullivan Park on June 23.
C. A Virtual Lego Challenge was offered on June 10.
D. Distribution of free summer lunches began on June 15.
E. A virtual meditation program for adults was hosted on June 24.
F. The Metropolitan Area Agency on Aging offered a virtual overview of Medicare options
on June 25.
G. The English as a Second Language conversation circle continues to meet virtually on
Monday evenings.
H. Virtual Storytimes were offered on five Mondays in June.
I. One contactless delivery of materials was made to an At-Home patron.
V. STAFF
A. Library Supervisor Elaine Dietz-Mamaril announced her retirement effective July 10.
B. Part-time staff returned to work on June 1.
C. Youth Services Librarian Brianna Belanger attended a summer learning check-in with
librarians serving youth throughout the state and a meeting of the 21st Century Community
Learning Centers Grant team.
D. Adult Services Librarian Cortni O’Brien participated in the City’s centennial planning
committee and attended Minnesota Library Association virtual programs on racial equity
and safely reopening libraries.

VII. MISC
A. I met with the city manager and department heads on June 1, 8, 15, and 29. I also
participated in a visioning session with city staff and elected officials on June 29.
B. I joined members of the Library Board for a lunch with departing Trustee Steve Smith on
June 11.
VIII. LIBRARY CLOSURE
A. A new service, Computers by Appointment, began June 15; 167 people served.
B. Due dates of borrowed items have been extended through July 15.
C. Part-time staff returned to regular shifts on June 1. Staff provided reference and referral
via telephone and email between 9 am and 8 pm Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday; 9 am
to 5 pm on Thursday and Friday; and 11 am to 4 pm on Saturdays.
D. The automated drive up book return remained open. Returns and deliveries are being
quarantined for 72 hours.
E. Contactless curbside pick-up of holds continued; 606 people served in June.
