I. BUILDING MAINTENANCE AND EQUIPMENT
A. Public Works staff did spring clean-up of landscaping.
B. Nick Olberding re-glued countertops at the “ask me” desks.
II. TECHNOLOGY
A. IT staff added two additional access points to boost the Wi-Fi signal beyond the building.
It is strongest in the grassy entrance court and the parking lot near the book drop.
III. COLLECTION
A. Adult print materials were selected from the December 1st issue of Kirkus Reviews.
Anticipated May bestsellers from popular authors, replacement copies of worn titles, and
Spanish language books were ordered. Juvenile print materials were selected from the
November issues of Booklist and School Library Journal, and the November and
December issues of Growing Minds.
B. Weeding in adult fiction was completed in C-J. Weeding of easy fiction (E) continued.
IV. PROGRAMS AND VIRTUAL EVENTS
A. Virtual Storytimes were offered via Facebook Premiere on four Mondays in April.
B. Two experimental contactless deliveries of materials were made to At-Home patrons.
C. Videos introducing Transparent Languages and Creativebug databases, and curbside pick-
up of holds were posted to Library’s Facebook page.
D. A National Library Week proclamation was read by the Mayor at the April 27 City
Council meeting.
E. The Adult Services Librarian and Clerk Typist launched an online trivia contest.
F. Graphic Novel book club met online on April 29.
G. The Youth Services Librarian made virtual visits to Early Childhood and Family
Education classes on April 28-30.
V. STAFF
A. Library Clerk Winnie Coyne and I met for her annual performance evaluation.
VI. FOUNDATION
VII. MISC
A. I met with the city manager and department heads on April 6, 13, 21, and 27.
B. I met virtually numerous times with the Anoka County Library Management Team.
C. I listened to calls with state library directors and State Librarian on April 2 and 16.
D. I met with the Anoka County Library Public Service Team on April 22.
E. I participated in a cybersecurity and information technology recovery audit with city
department heads on April 24.
F. I met with the city manager, emergency operations manager, and police chief on April 29
to plan for library reopening upon the lifting of the governor’s stay at home order.
G. Cellular tower installation in the vacant lot began.
VIII. LIBRARY CLOSURE
A. Due dates of borrowed items have been extended through June 1.
B. Library staff continue to provide reference and referral via telephone and email between 9
am and 5 pm on weekdays.
C. The automated drive up book return remained open.
D. The Wi-Fi “City Public” network signal strength was boosted to extend further into the
parking lot.
E. Mail and other deliveries resumed on April 13.
F. Contactless curbside pick-up of holds began April 13. By month-end 160 people were
served.
