Adult Programs and Displays a. The library remained closed to the public due to COVID-19. All in-person programs were cancelled. b. The Friends of the Library created the first of twelve displays in celebration of the City of Columbia Heights Centennial. The display (throughout July) features “Columbia Heights from the early 1900s to 1921. The display will remain in place throughout the first month of reopening. c. Summer reading for youth and adults began June 1. To date, 23 adults have registered through the Beanstack reading tracker. d. The library hosted local meditator Arlene Samsel for a “Reducing Stress through Meditation” program via Zoom on June 24. Six adults attended. e. The library hosted the Metropolitan Area Agency on Aging for a “Medicare 101” program via Zoom on June 25. Seven adults attended. f. The virtual ESL conversation circle continues, Monday evenings at 6 pm. The program is offered in partnership with the Adult Basic Education Center. II. Meetings a. I met with the City’s Centennial Celebration planning committee on June 2 and June 16 via Zoom. b. I attended the MLA Racial Equity Listening Session on June 18 via Zoom. c. I will attend the PLD Listen and Share session on Safely Reopening Libraries on June 30 via Zoom. III. Projects a. Audiobooks, Adult DVDs and curbside pick-up supplies were ordered. b. Summer reading activity items were ordered. c. Selection tools (Kirkus) were completed. d. I began weeding the adult mystery section. e. Shelving was ordered for replacement. IV. Other a. One At-Home-Delivery was made, following safe, curbside procedures.
