HomeMy WebLinkAbout2020-33RESOLUTION NO. 2020-33 A resolution of the City Council for the City of Columbia Heights, Minnesota, WHEREAS, Minnesota Statutes, Section 471.59 authorizes governmental units by agreement of their governing bodies to jointly or cooperatively exercise any power common to them; WHEREAS, the Minnesota Statewide Public Works Mutual Aid Agreement and Equipment Loan Agreement have been established by the adoption of a Joint Powers Agreement among governmental units to allow their public works divisions to assist each other in providing service; WHEREAS, the JPA allows other governmental units to become a party to the agreement by the adoption of this Resolution and sending notice to Hennepin County Emergency Management; and WHEREAS, the governing body of Columbia Heights considers it to be ii, the best interests of the City to be a party to the Minnesota Statewide Public Works Mutual Aid and Equipment Loan Agreements; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that Columbia Heights: 1.Authorizes the Public Works Director and Public Works Superintendent -Utilities to sign the agreements evidencing the intent of the City of Columbia Heights to be a party to the Minnesota Statewide Public Works Mutual Aid Agreement and Equipment Loan Agreement; and 2.Kevin Hansen is directed to send a certified copy of this resolution and the JPA to Hennepin County Emergency Management; and 3.Columbia Heights agrees to comply with all terms of the Agreements. FINDINGS OF FACT 1.The City of Columbia Heights hereby agrees to enter into and sign into the Minnesota Statewide Public Works Mutual Aid Agreement and Equipment Loan Agreement and comply with all terms, conditions and provisions of the agreements to better serve the residents of Columbia Heights, and provide relief to communities in need of requested assistance when resources are available.
