I. Adult Programs and Displays
a. Winter Reads, an adult reading program, will wrap up on Feb. 29. Weekly prizes have been
distributed throughout Jan. and Feb. Two grand prize winners will receive a gift card for
the Heights Theater. Total participation was 76 people.
b. Library displays included Winter Reads, Black History Month, Leap Year, and new titles.
c. An “Adult Read Down” took place throughout the month of February. Total amount for the
read down was $84.70.
d. In partnership with the Mississippi Watershed Management Organization, 35 adults
attended a “Fight Snow and Ice, Pollution Free” program on Feb. 5.
e. Fifteen adults attended the February 5 meditation program.
f. Anoka County Law Librarian John Murphy met with 4 patrons on Feb. 12.
g. The Textile Center conducted “Macramé Necklaces,” a Legacy-funded program, on
February 19. Fifteen adults attended.
h. The adult book club met on Feb. 19. Eleven adults discussed “The End of Your Life Book
Club” by Will Schwalbe.
i. Conversation Circles for adult English language learners met on Monday evenings and
Thursday afternoons. The program is facilitated by two different adult library volunteers.
j. Seven “Buddy Up and Read” partners met a total of 17 times to practice their English
language reading and speaking skills.
k. Four deliveries were made to At-Home Patrons.
II. Meetings/Outreach
a. I attended a census training workshop at Northtown Library on Feb 6.
b. I met with the Friends of the Library on Feb. 12.
c. I met with two new Reading Buddies pairs--on Feb. 4 on Feb. 20.
d. The library partnered with the Senior Center for an outreach event on Feb. 6. The library
was one of three city organizations that decorated valentine cookies with senior citizens at
Murzyn Hall. Thirteen adults participated.
III. Projects
a. Spring press releases were submitted to area news outlets.
b. DVDs, audiobooks, and program supplies were ordered.
c. The Friends of the Library completed the archived “Tema letters” spreadsheet project.
IV. Other
a. 15 adult volunteers donated 50 hours to the library, working with adult English Language
learners, delivering materials to At-Home Patrons, creating displays, and performing
miscellaneous tasks at the library.
b. The spring edition of Heights Happenings was delivered to city homes and businesses.
