PROGRAMS a. LEGO Challenge met on 2/12 and 10 kids used design thinking and problem solving skills to build and create catapults. Their creations were on display for two weeks in the glass display case. b. Tech Wizards continued to meet this month to work on their films. We have 8 regular attendees 3 of whom lead the group in icebreakers and reflections. c. Graphic Novel Book Club took off this month with 7 teens meeting on 2/18 to talk about graphic novels and participate in activities. d. STEAM Saturday: Birding by Ear brought in 17 youth and 3 adults. e. We currently have one teen volunteer whose hours total 6 hours this month. f. COLLECTION a. Book orders placed this month include: Growing Minds 10/19, SLJ 10/19, Booklist 10/1/19, Easy Readers, Graphic Novels, and Replacements and Adds. b. Weeding of E fiction continued. III. PROJECTS a. Prepared spring storytime. b. Prepared for spring early literacy space. c. Prepared content for annual report. d. Planned for 4-H lessons. e. Prepared for and led February Toddler Play Date. f. Created February book displays. g. Worked on Summer Heights Happenings content and added programming to Outlook and paper calendar. h. Worked on Spring contracts and Summer contracts. i. Prepared for and led Graphic Novel Book Club. j. Began planning summer Mural Camp. k. Managed teen volunteers. IV. GRANTS, MEETINGS, COMMUNITY a. 2/7: Attended Making Meaning with Multiple Data Sets Huddle for 21CCLC grant at Maplewood Library. b. 2/11: Read to Valley View Pre-K and K classrooms for I Love to Read Month. c. 2/14: Met with Rebecca Krueger to plan a summer Mural Camp at the library. d. 2/19: Trained new pages on Youth Services Department. V. STAFF a. Kelly Olson worked on book orders. She also fulfilled the many bulk loan bins we had this month. She completed her usual tasks including month end reports, magazines, counting money, receiving books, and purchase requests. Additionally, she helps with volunteen supervision, and ICS visits. b. Farrah Briest planned and delivered LEGO Club. She also helps with ICS visits, cleans toys, develops and maintains teen passive activities, maintains early literacy activities, and markets events. She has been working on a Spring Bulletin Board and Spring Early Literacy Activities.
