Adult Programs and Displays a. Library book and movie displays throughout the month included memoirs, native authors, new books, and DVD documentaries. A program-related “Tea 101” tea set display in the glass case was created by the Friends of the Library. b. Senior Surf for Adults 55+ was held on Nov. 6. Five adults attended the class, which offered hands-on computer learning with help from two representatives of the Senior Linkage Line and the Metropolitan Area Agency on Aging. c. The library offered a Mobile Menders clinic on Nov. 2. Three talented volunteer menders repaired or altered 6 items of clothing for people in need. d. In partnership with the Anoka County Law Library, the library offers a “Consult with a Law Librarian” program on the second Wednesday of the month, from 5-7 pm. Law Librarian John Murphy met with 6 patrons on Nov. 13 e. Twigs and Branches genealogy offered a “Oral Histories: Interviewing Your Relatives” program on Nov. 13. Eight adults attended the Legacy-funded program. f. Twenty-three senior citizens participated in the library’s “Notes of Gratitude” program in partnership with the Recreation Department’s Senior Services program at Murzyn Hall on Nov. 20. Participants drafted hand-written thank you notes to friends and loved ones in time for Thanksgiving delivery. g. The Library Book Club met on Nov. 20, to discuss "Before We Were Yours" by Lisa Wingate. Thirteen adults participated and voted on the book selections for 2020. h. Eight “Buddy Up and Read” partners met a total of 16 times to practice their English language reading and speaking skills. i. Conversation Circles for adult English language learners met twice a week, on Monday evenings at 6 pm and Thursdays at 1 pm, facilitated by three adult library volunteers. Eighteen attendees participated in a Conversation Circle in November. j. November is National Homelessness Awareness Month. An informational poster in the public entrance was posted in collaboration with Anoka County. k. Deliveries were made to At-Home Patrons. l. Spring program planning is underway. II. Meetings/Outreach a. Renee, Bri and I met with a potential vendor, Kanopy, on Nov. 1. b. I attended the citywide safety training on Nov. 5. c. I met with the Friends of the Library on Nov. 13. d. I met with our Red Cross representative on Nov. 25. III. Projects a. With assistance from the Friends of the Library, a collection box is place in the library for Project Bookshelf, an annual collection of new, donated books for children and teens, to be distributed through SACA’s holiday store. Donated books will be accepted through Tuesday, Dec. 10. b. Final orders were written for office supplies, DVDs and audio books. IV. Other a. A total of 18 adult volunteers donated 56.5 hours to the library, working with adult English Language learners, delivering materials to At-Home Patrons, creating displays, and performing miscellaneous tasks at the library.
