I. BUILDING MAINTENANCE AND EQUIPMENT
II. TECHNOLOGY
A. Bibliotheca staff installed Windows 10 upgrades on the three self-check kiosks.
III. COLLECTION
A. Adult print materials were selected from the July issue of Booklist and the August issues
of Kirkus Reviews and Library Journal. Popular paperbacks, graphic novels for adults, and
large print books were ordered. Juvenile books were selected from the July and August
issues of School Library Journal and the June and July issues of Booklist and Growing
Minds. Final orders for DVDs and adult audiobooks were placed.
B. Weeding in adult nonfiction 950-999 was completed. Weeding in adult mysteries was
begun. Weeding of juvenile fiction and easy readers was completed.
IV. PROGRAMS
A. Mobile Menders provided a clothing mending clinic on November 2.
B. A Senior Surf computer class was offered on November 6.
C. The Library Board met on November 6.
D. The Friends of the Library met on November 13.
E. LEGO Challenge was offered on November 13
F. The Anoka County Law Librarian was available for consultation on November 13.
G. An Oral Histories: Interviewing Your Relatives class was offered on November 13.
H. A 2020 Census staffer recruited employees on November 18.
I. Graphic Novel Book Club for teens was offered on November 19 at Columbia Academy.
J. The Adult Book Club met on November 20.
K. An offsite program, Notes of Gratitude, was offered at the Senior Center on November 20.
L. STEAM Saturday: World of Wildlife program was presented by the Minnesota Zoo on
November 23.
M. A Toddler Play Date was offered on November 25.
N. A new program, 4-H Junior Kitchen, was offered on November 18 and 25.
O. Two sessions of 4-H Tech Wizards were offered on Tuesday afternoons.
P. Two sessions of Family Storytime were offered on Monday mornings.
Q. Three sessions of Baby Read, Baby Grow were offered on Thursday mornings.
R. Three Head Start classes visited.
S. Four classes from the Immaculate Conception School visited.
T. “Buddy Up and Read” volunteers met with adults learning English.
U. English Conversation Circles for adult learners were offered on three Monday evenings
and three Thursday afternoons.
V. Deliveries of materials were made to At-Home patrons.
W. An outreach/housing support consultant was present in the library on Tuesday mornings or
Friday afternoons throughout the month.
X. Eighteen adult volunteers donated 56.5 hours of service; one teen volunteered 6 hours.
V. STAFF
A. Library staff completed mandatory city safety training on November 5 or 14.
B. Youth Services Librarian Bri Belanger attended two meetings related to the 21st Century
Community Learning Centers grant.
C. Bri Belanger, Cortni O’Brien and I were introduced to the streaming video service
available via the Kanopy service via a webinar on November 1.
VI. FOUNDATION
A. The Foundation met on November 7 to review a request for funding from a non-library
community entity.
VII. MISC
A. I met with the Anoka County Library print management review team on November 13.
Two of the four vendors submitting proposals were eliminated from consideration. TBS
and Comprise were selected for additional questions and inquiries.
B. I attended an Anoka County Library Census Task Force meeting on November 15.
C. I attended a winter operations meeting for city departments and facility managers on
November 15.
D. I viewed public presentations from two candidates vying for the position of executive
director of Minitex on November 19 and 22.
E. I met with the city manager and department heads on November 4, 12, 18, and 25.
F. I met with the Anoka County Library Management Team on November 14 and 21.
G. I met with the Public Service Team of the Anoka County Library via WebEx on
November 27.
