I. PROGRAMS
a. LEGO Club met on 3/13 and 5 kids used design thinking and problem solving skills to build and create.
b. Spring Break programming at the library included: Gnome Sweet Gnome in which 11 kids and teens used
felt and sewing techniques to create a miniature garden gnome, Storytelling with Auntie Beverly in
which 35 kids and caregivers listened to interactive tales from around the world, 2 Craft Labs in which
the MN Center for Book Arts taught teens the art of Japanese Stab Binding and a local knitter taught kids
and teens how to knit.
c. We ended the month with STEAM Saturday. A NASA Ambassador came to the library and taught 27 kids
and caregivers about space missions to the moon.
d. We currently have 5 teen volunteers at the library. Teen volunteer hours total 10.25 hours this month.

II. COLLECTION
a. Book orders placed this month include: Booklist 10/1/18, 10/15/18, Growing Minds 10/18, and Board
Book Replacements.
b. Weeding of E and JUV nonfiction continues.
III. PROJECTS
a. Scheduled summer reading school visits.
b. Began recruiting summer volunteers.
c. Created volunteer program plan for summer 2019.
d. Created summer events fliers.
e. Managed teen volunteers.
f. Entered summer programming into LibCal.
g. Swapped out early literacy play space activities.
h. Worked on annual report.
i. Prepared summer handouts for school visits.
j. Planned for Summer Reading Kickoff event.
k. Organized guest storytimes for summer.
l. Prepared and swapped out April book displays for kids and teen area.
m. Managed and implemented transition from E CD Fic to Mixed Media.
n. Applied for summer lunch program.
o. Prepared for April and May Graphic Novel Book Club.
IV. GRANTS, MEETINGS, COMMUNITY
a. 3/11; Met with Jodi Gadient to plan Youth Advisory Council Meeting
b. 3/12; Led Youth Advisory Council Meeting
c. 3/13; Provided library orientation to Immaculate Conception 5th graders
d. 3/14; Attended YES! Meeting at Northtown
e. 3/14; Attended 21 CCLC Advisory Council Meeting at Family Center
V. STAFF
a. Kelly Olson worked on book orders. She also fulfilled the many bulk loan bins we had this month. She
completed her usual tasks including month end reports, performer contracts, magazines, counting
money, receiving books, and purchase requests. Additionally, she helps with volunteen supervision, and
ICS visits.
