I. PROGRAMS
a. Our winter READ Dogs session was held on 2/6 allowing 6 beginning readers the chance to practice their
skills in a no judgment environment by reading to a dog.
b. LEGO Club met on 2/13 and 7 kids used design thinking and problem solving skills to build and create.
c. Graphic Novel Club met on 2/19. The group met with special guest Rachel Topka and received feedback
and instruction on their graphic novels. We also discussed our latest read.
d. We celebrated Read Across America Day early this year with a special storytime that concluded with
literacy building crafts and activities such as letter sensory tubes and story chains.
e. Teen volunteer hours total 10.5 hours this month.

II. COLLECTION
a. Book orders placed this month include: SLJ 9/18, 10/18, Booklist 9/1/18, 9/15/18, BookLinks 9/18,
Growing Minds 9/18, Music CDs, Graphic Novels, Award Winners and JUV Adds and replacements.
b. Weeding of E and JUV nonfiction continues.
III. PROJECTS
a. Planned spring storytime session.
b. Updated procedure manual.
c. Began researching program evaluation techniques.
d. Prepared for and led Read Across America Storytime program.
e. Managed teen volunteers.
f. Worked on Summer Early Literacy space projects
g. Began swapping spring early literacy space activities.
h. Planned for and led Graphic Novel Book Club.
i. Maintained youth and teen book displays.
j. Put summer programming in Libcal.
k. Began work on annual report.
l. Created spring bulletin board.
m. Swapped out book displays in kids and teen area.
IV. GRANTS, MEETINGS, COMMUNITY
a. 2/1; Met with Police Department to discuss summer lunch program.
b. 2/7; TESFA International 6th graders visited library.
c. 2/22; Met with potential volunteer.
V. STAFF
a. Kelly Olson worked on book orders. She also fulfilled the many bulk loan bins we had this month. She
completed her usual tasks including month end reports, performer contracts, magazines, counting
money, receiving books, and purchase requests. Additionally, she helps with volunteen supervision, and
ICS visits.
