I. BUILDING MAINTENANCE AND EQUIPMENT
A. An interior area within the workroom was retrofitted with a door lock in preparation as a
lactation room.
II. TECHNOLOGY
A. One of the self-check kiosks failed so Bibliotheca replaced its computer.
III. COLLECTION
A. Adult print materials were selected from the December 15, 2018, issues of Booklist and
Kirkus Reviews, and the January 1, 2019, issue of Kirkus. Adult popular fiction with April
publication dates and paperback romances were ordered. Juvenile materials were selected
from the October 2018 issues of Booklist and Growing Minds. Board books were ordered.
B. Weeding in adult fiction M-0 and romance paperback A-L was completed.
IV. PROGRAMS
A. A Senior Surf computer class, taught by a volunteer instructor from the Metropolitan Area
Agency on Aging, was offered on March 6.
B. The Library Board met on March 6.
C. The Friends of the Library met on March 13.
D. A LEGO Challenge program for kids was held on March 13.
E. Gnome, Sweet Gnome, a program for kids, was held on March 19.
F. African storytelling with Auntie Beverly was held on March 20.
G. The adult Book Club discussed Katarina Bivald’s “The Readers of Broken Wheel
Recommend” on March 20.
H. Craft Lab: Book binding, was taught by the MN Center for Book Arts on March 21.
I. Craft Lab: Knitting Clinic, was held on March 22. This was a make-up session for
cancelled February Craft Lab.
J. Bird-scaping Basics for adults was taught by Amber Burnette on March 27.
K. A STEAM Saturday: NASA, program was offered on March 30.
L. Three sessions of Family Storytime were offered on Monday mornings.
M. Six sessions of Baby Read, Baby Grow were held on Thursday mornings.
N. Three sessions of 4-H Tech Wizards were offered in partnership with University of
Minnesota Extension staff.
O. “Buddy Up and Read” volunteers met with adults learning English.
P. English Conversation Circles for adult learners were offered on four Monday evenings and
four Thursday afternoons.
Q. Deliveries of materials to At-Home patrons were made.
R. 14 adult volunteers donated 41 hours of service; teen volunteers contributed 10.25 hours.
V. STAFF
A. Adult Services Librarian Cortni O’Brien met with the Anoka County Library Adult
Services team and served as liaison to the Friends of the Library at their meeting.
B. Youth Services Librarian Bri Belanger met with the ACL Youth Engagement-School-aged
(YES!) team.
C. I scored applications received for the open Library Page position and interviewed two of
the applicants.
VI. FOUNDATION
VII. MISC
A. I prepared a breakout session on library services for the City Services Expo on March 2;
no one attended. Elaine Mamaril and I staffed the information table in the Community
Room throughout the event.
B. I met with the city manager and department heads on March 4 and 11.
C. I met with the Anoka County Library management team on March 7, 14, and 21.
D. I met with the Public Works director, City Manager, and City Planner to brainstorm ideas
for expanding parking capacity at the Library.
E. I met with the Information Services liaison to discuss software licensing for the public
computers.
F. With the assistance of Bri Belanger and Cortni O’Brien, I submitted information to the
City Communications Coordinator to prepare the 2018 annual report.
G. I verified and locked the 159 data elements submitted to the Minnesota Department of
Education as part of the mandatory state library report.
H. A Red Cross Blood Drive was hosted in the Community Room on March 15.
I. I attended the COSUGI (Customers of SirsiDynix Users Group, Inc.) national conference
held in Minneapolis on March 25-27. The Metropolitan Library Service Agency paid the
registration fee.
