I. PROGRAMS
a. LEGO Club met on 1/9 and 29 kids used design thinking and problem solving skills to build and create.
b. Graphic Novel Club met on 12/15. The group met with special guest Rachel Topka and learned about
her process for creating graphic novels. She will be back next month to provide feedback and
instruction.
c. Local bird expert, Amber Burnette, met with 22 kids and families to talk about citizen science projects
families can participate in right now. The session ended with a bird identification activity.
d. Craft Lab met on 1/25. 4 youth learned a new technique for fabric dying and left with one-of-kind
bandanas.
e. Teen volunteer hours total 5.5 hours this month.

II. COLLECTION
a. Book orders placed this month include: SLJ 8/18, Spoken Word, and JUV Adds and replacements.
b. Weeding of E fiction and World Fiction were completed. Weeding of JUV Nonfiction has begun.
III. PROJECTS
a. Finalized summer programming.
b. Weeded and prepared for swap from E CD Fic to E Mixed Media collection.
c. Worked on finalizing spring vendor contracts.
d. Updated volunteer records.
e. Managed teen volunteers.
f. Finalized Spring Heights Happenings copy.
g. Managed winter early literacy space and teen passive activities.
h. Planned for and led Graphic Novel Book Club.
i. Maintained youth and teen book displays.
j. Planned spring and summer book displays.
k. Planned spring teen passive activities.
l. Created spring program fliers.
m. Prepared spring scavenger hunts and other early literacy activities.
n. Put spring programming in Libcal.
o. Prepared for and led Encore Youth Advisory Council.
p. Planned for Read Across America Day storytime.
q. Prepared for all staff meeting and delivered information about youth services.
r. Created a summer early literacy play space plan.
IV. GRANTS, MEETINGS, COMMUNITY
a. 1/3; Met with Eli from Lyric Arts to discuss summer programming

V. STAFF
a. Kelly Olson worked on book orders. She also fulfilled the many bulk loan bins we had this month. She
completed her usual tasks including month end reports, performer contracts, magazines, counting
money, receiving books, and purchase requests. Additionally, she helps with volunteen supervision, and
ICS visits.
