PROGRAMS a. The Friends of the Library offered a birthday card craft Tuesdays after school this month. b. 10 teens attended this month’s Craft Lab and learned how to make their own fidget spinners and stress balls. c. Textile Center offered a wet felting program that was attended by 8 youth. Each youth left with a keychain. d. 25 kids and caregivers displayed creativity, problem solving, and design thinking at this month’s LEGO Challenge. e. Wargo Nature Center presented on reptiles and amphibians at our STEAM Saturday event. 51 youth and caregivers learned how to tell the difference between the two and got to see a real turtle and snake! f. We celebrated the end of our Fall Storytime session with a Toddler Dance Party. 121 kids and their caregivers came to the library to dance to storytime favorites mixed with some family friendly pop songs for the grownups. Dancing and movement is not only fun, but it also helps develop motor skills, rhythm, balance, and listening skills. g. Graphic Novel Club met on 11/20. The group is growing and we look forward to moving forward with our new members. h. The Teen Advisory Board will meet for the last time this month. We have had low attendance and participation for the past year and are moving toward a Youth Advisory Council in partnership with the school district and parks and rec. This opportunity will be presented to those who would like to continue with the program. i. Teen volunteer hours total 5 hours this month. j. COLLECTION a. Book orders were placed from the following: SLJ 7/18, Booklist 7/18, JUV adds and replacements, and Easy Readers. b. Weeding of Easy Readers was completed. Weeding of EJ fiction began. III. PROJECTS a. Prepared for and led Craft Lab. b. Input 21st century grant attendance. c. Managed early literacy space. d. Compiled Youth Read Down Stats. e. Managed and compiled new book displays. f. Managed teen volunteers. g. Watched Supercharge Storytime webinars and completed coursework. h. Created materials for winter early literacy space. i. Created plan for Art Club. j. Began scheduling spring programs. k. Prepared for 90th Anniversary Celebration. l. Put winter programs in evanced. m. Planned for Noon Year’s Eve program. n. Began planning winter storytimes. o. Prepared TAB agenda. p. Put up winter bulletin board. IV. GRANTS, MEETINGS, COMMUNITY a. 11/6; LibCal Training b. 11/7; 21st Century Grant Advisory Meeting c. 11/21; 21st Century Youth Council Planning Meeting d. 11/27; 21st Century Grant Meeting and Youth Advisory Council V. STAFF a. This month the major projects page staff worked on are as follows: selection tools, processing, and various cutting projects. b. Kelly Olson worked on book orders. She also fulfilled the many bulk loan bins we had this month. She completed her usual tasks including month end reports, performer contracts, magazines, counting money, receiving books, and purchase requests. Additionally, she helps with volunteen supervision and ICS visits.
