I. Adult Programs and Displays
a. Minnesota Book Award winner Allen Eskens did an author talk on Saturday, June 2,
attended by 47 adults. One attendee said: “Great choice of author! He is a wonderful
speaker and his journey is so interesting.”
b. Four adults discussed “Iron Lake” by William Kent Krueger at the Murzyn Hall Seniors’
Book Club on June 6. The book club is a collaborative program between COH senior
services and the library.
c. Two adults attended Senior Surf, a basic internet instruction class in partnership with the
Metropolitan Area Agency on Aging, on June 6.
d. June displays included a farmer’s market themed display, party planning, and a 1950s
anniversary display created by the Friends of the Library.
e. The library director and the adult and children’s librarian staffed an information table at the
Community Picnic on June 19. Over 300 adults and children stopped at the library table for
information. Children’s prizes, and a 90th anniversary library pen.
f. Eighteen members of the adult book club discussed “Brain on Fire” by on June 20.
g. Scrabble Club, hosted by the Friends of the Library, met on June 5 and 19. The club has 8-
10 regular attendees.
h. Library staff, board members, Friends of the Library, and volunteers created a float and
participated in the Columbia Heights Jamboree Parade on June 22.
i. Fall program planning was underway.
II. Meetings, etc.
a. Cortni met with the Friends of the Library on Wednesday, June 13.
b. Cortni met with the Anoka County Library ARCH service team on Monday, June 18.
c. Nick and Cortni met with Bri to train on the YouthPrise summer lunch program on
Tuesday, June 26.
III. Projects
a. Books, movies, and sheet music were delivered to 7 at-home patrons.
b. Orders were placed for library slatwall shelves, youth and adult DVDs, and book
processing supplies.
IV. Other
a. Twelve adult volunteers donated 41 hours to the library: decorating the float for the
Jamboree Parade, working with adult English Language learners, planning the 90th
anniversary celebration, delivering materials to At-Home Patrons, organizing
magazines, and performing miscellaneous tasks at the library.
