I. PROGRAMS
a. Bulk loans of materials were prepared for ICS, Adventure Club, and Mini Adventures.
b. 14 parents and kids joined us at our Family Night event on 1/3. Family night begins with stories and
songs and ends with activities and fun for the whole family.
c. LEGO Club met on 1/10 and 16 kids spent the hour creating and building. Kids are learning social
emotional skills like cooperating, sharing, and teamwork as well as valuable engineering skills.
d. ICS students visited the library on 1/8, 1/10, 1/29, and 1/31.
e. Winter storytime kicked off this month on 1/8. The schedule has changed to offering family storytime
on Mondays at 10:30 a.m. and baby storytime on Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. with the hope of freeing up
time to offer evening Family Night events.
f. We are offering Early Reader Club this winter to provide beginning readers a chance to practice their
new reading skills. So far, our sessions have focused on beginning sounds and rhyming words.
g. 15 toddlers, preschoolers, and parents joined us on 1/16 for a Block Party. Kids built whatever they
could imagine while working on early math and science skills. During this time, they are also working on
social/emotional skills such as sharing.
h. TAB met on 1/20 to discuss spring and summer programming. They also decorated the teen area with
snowflakes that were created at their Cocoa and Chill event.
i. READ Dogs (1/22) and Tech Wizards (1/23) were cancelled due to inclement weather.
j. Maker Club met on 1/31 and 3 kids designed and played with paper plate mazes.
k. The Winter Read Down ended on January 31st. 21 kids and teens read for a total of 27.75 hours
resulting in $93.10 of overdue fines being waived. This program is a wonderful way to promote reading
as well as reducing barriers to library access.
