Subject: September Operational Report
Date: September 28th, 2017
I. COLLECTION PROJECTS
A. Magazines: Magazine labels were typed for newly received magazines.
B. Damaged Shelf: Items older than 1 month were cleared from the shelf this month.
C. Paperback order: One paperback orders was sent this month.
D. Paperback Display: There was no room for a paperback display this month because of our
Banned Book and two New Book displays.
E. Weeding Projects: Renee is going through Large Print fiction and giving me books to
withdraw semiregularly. Bri is also giving me children’s books to withdraw semiregularly.
F. Last copy/withdrawn items: We no longer get a Last Copy list each week but we are still
weeding and withdrawing items. This week we got a list of new editions of books. We withdrew
the old editions that we had and ordered new editions of items that circulated often. Books are
withdrawn from the system each week and are placed in a box to go to Better World Books if
they are accepted by the company. Books in good condition that are not accepted by Better
World Books are going on the sale cart.
II. MAINTENANCE
A. Fire extinguisher: The fire extinguishers were checked Wednesday, September 27th.
B. Security gates: Security gates were checked twice daily to record the gatecount.
C. Public Works: This month, Eric Hanson from Public Works was here to inspect the lights in
that public area of the library that were not working since there are a number of them that are
out again.
III. MISCELLANEOUS
A. ILL Drawer: The ILL drawers were maintained and a weekly count of filled requests has
been kept.
B. Month End Statistics: The statistics for the previous month will be totaled and sent to staff
by Tuesday, October 3rd.
C. Bulletin Board: Old notices are removed once they have expired or been up for thirty days
and new notices are put up as we receive them.
D. Shelf Reading: Shelf reading was nearly completed this month. The same assignments will
be kept for next month, and it should be completed by the end of October. Pages will be shelf-
reading in the children’s area again since we no longer have Teen Volunteers.
E. Website and Facebook: Periodic updates of both Facebook and the Webpage were
completed. The web page and Facebook page both feature recurring and one-time events.
Single events such as our Meditation program for adults and our African Drumming program for
youth are featured for about one week before they occur.
