Subject: December Operational Report

I. PROGRAMS
a. Bulk loans of materials were prepared for ICS, Adventure Club, and Mini Adventures.
b. 15 parents and kids joined us at our first Family Night event on 12/6. Family night begins with stories
and songs and end with activities and fun for the whole family.
c. LEGO Club met on 12/13 and 22 kids spent the hour creating and building. Kids are learning social
emotional skills like cooperating, sharing, and teamwork as well as valuable engineering skills.
d. ICS students visited the library on 12/11 and 12/13.
e. We offered 2 Monday morning yoga storytimes in collaboration with Learning Tree Yoga on 12/11 and
12/18 to provide early literacy events during our storytime hiatus.
f. We offered Cocoa and Chill in collaboration with the Teen Advisory Board on 12/16. 16 teens came to
the library to work on fleece blankets that were then donated to SACA. They also drank cocoa, watched
movies, and played board games.
g. 19 kids were challenged to create the tallest taller they could, using only 2 pieces of newspaper. They
utilized design thinking, problem solving, and team work to do so.
h. We rang in the new year early this year with 42 preschoolers and parents on 12/29. They day started
with stories and crafts and ended with a balloon drop, dancing, and an apple juice toast.

II. COLLECTION
a. No book orders were placed this month.
b. Weeding of Easy fiction continued.
III. PROJECTS
a. Prepared for winter programs.
b. Finalized spring programming and heights happening copy.
c. Began contacting performers for summer reading.
d. Planned winter storytimes.
e. Created winter displays and implemented.
f. Entered spring programs into evinced and outlook.
g. Finalized winter READ Dogs dates and prepared registration.
h. Publicized winter programs.
i. Wrote reference letters for teen volunteers.
j. Managed volunteens.
k. Prepared for READ Down.
IV. GRANTS, MEETINGS, COMMUNITY
a. 12/1: Presented to 85 Global Academy 6th-8th graders at High School Readiness Panel.
b. 12/5: Tabled at Highland’s EL Family Night and spoke to 15 parents and kids about library programs.
c. 12/7: Attended Storytime Palooza at Roseville Library and left with new ideas to try in storytime.
d. 12/12: Met with Jy Xiong, Tech Wizards Program Coordinator, to plan Spring program.
e. 12/13: Attended Early Literacy Meeting at LSS.
V. STAFF
a. This month the major projects page staff worked on are as follows: selection tools, processing, and
various cutting projects.
b. Kelly Olson worked on book orders. She also fulfilled the many bulk loan bins we had this month. She
completed her usual tasks including month end reports, performer contracts, magazines, counting
money, receiving books, and purchase requests.
