PROGRAMS a. Bulk loans of materials were prepared for ICS, Adventure Club and Mini Adventure Club. b. Tech Wizards started fall session on Tuesday, September 12. Our focus this session will be on film production. c. We kicked off our first LEGO Club of the school year with 9 kids building and creating. Their creations have been on display at the library this month. d. ICS classes began visiting the library the week of the 25th. Students received a tour of the space and a reminder of library guidelines. Each student left with an events calendar and book bag. e. Our first Maker Club of the school year was held on Wednesday, September 27. 9 kids learned how to make kaleidoscopes. Each left with their very own creation and some even asked for supplies to make more at home. Maker Club strives to provide youth an opportunity to build community around STEAM related projects. We meet once a month. f. COLLECTION a. Book orders were placed from the following selection tools: Booklist 4/1/17, 3/15,17, 5/15/17 Kirkus 4/1/17, 4/1/17, 5/1/17, and SLJ 4/17. Orders were also placed in the following areas: replacements and adds and board books. b. Weeding of YA fiction ended this month. Weeding of YA audio and nonfiction was completed this month. Weeding of J audio began this month. III. PROJECTS a. Preparing fall displays. b. Preparing early lit and teen passive activities for fall. c. Prepped for Maker Club session. d. Organized and scheduled ICS class visits and bulk loans. e. Planned winter programming. f. Compiled winter programming for Heights Happenings. g. Created booklists for storytime. h. Created scavenger hunt and other passive activities for Polish Heritage month. IV. GRANTS, MEETINGS, COMMUNITY a. Met with Abby, ECFE Parent Educator, to plan and strategize for school year collaboration. V. STAFF a. This month the major projects page staff worked on are as follows: selection tools, processing, and various cutting projects. b. Kelly Olson worked on book orders. She also fulfilled the many bulk loan bins we had this month. She completed her usual tasks including month end reports, performer contracts, magazines, counting money, receiving books, and purchase requests. Additionally, she led a Family Storytime session while Bri was on vacation.
