BUILDING MAINTENANCE AND EQUIPMENT A. 15 of 127 LED ceiling pendant fixtures have failed. Peoples Electric has contacted the manufacturer about replacing the drivers or the fixtures. B. The main heating boiler has been failing due to low glycol levels; Cool Aire and R.M. Cotton have kept the boiler operational and are searching for a small system leak. C. Door hardware on the exterior entrances has failed, causing doors to remain locked in the morning or preventing them from locking in the evening when the electronic controls engage. The contractor will begin troubleshooting by replacing the motors. II. TECHNOLOGY A. Information Services has begun to install staff computer hardware including thin clients and dual monitors for selected workstations. III. COLLECTION A. Adult print books were selected from the August and September 1st issues of Booklist, Kirkus Reviews, and Library Journal. Anticipated bestsellers with March publication dates, paperbacks, and patron requests were ordered. Children’s selections were made from the August issue of Booklist; the August and September 1st issues of Kirkus Reviews; and the July and August issues of School Library Journal. Juvenile replacement copies and patron requests were added. Videos, adult music, and adult audiobooks were ordered. B. Non-circulating adult fiction (C-Z) was weeded from the collection. Weeding of easy picture books continued. IV. PROGRAMS A. BookWarms winter reading program for children ended on 2/25. B. Winter Reads, an adult winter reading program, ended on 2/28. C. A Senior Surf class was offered on 2/1. D. Read Dogs, planned for 2/6, was cancelled. E. Scrabble Club for adults was held on 2/7 and 2/21. F. The Library Board met on 2/8 and welcomed new trustee Tricia Conway. G. The Twin Cities Sisters in Crime, five local mystery authors, led a panel discussion on 2/8. H. The Friends of the Library met on 2/8. I. Lego Club was held on 2/9. J. North Park Elementary 4th graders and parents were invited to visit the library on Saturday, 2/11, for an orientation to services and programs. K. An Anti-Valentine’s Day program for teens was held on 2/14. L. The adult Fiction Book Club met to discuss Kitchens of the Great Midwest by J. Ryan Stradal on 2/15. M. The Teen Advisory Board meeting on 2/18. N. A Maker Club for kids was held on 2/22. O. Author Midge Bubany talked about her writing process and read from her work on 2/22. P. Anoka County Extension staff offered 4-H Tech Wizards programs on four Tuesdays after school. Q. Two Toddler Storytimes were held this month on Monday mornings. R. Three Family Storytimes were held this month on Tuesday mornings. S. Four Baby Read, Baby Grow programs were offered in partnership with ISD 13Early Childhood and Family Education staff on Thursday mornings. T. Bulk loans were prepared for Immaculate Conception School and Mini Adventure Club. U. Immaculate Conception School class visited the library. V. Volunteer reading “buddies” met with adults learning English throughout the month. W. Conversation Circles for adults learning to speak English were offered on Wednesdays and Thursdays. X. Deliveries of library materials were made to “At-Home” patrons. Y. Adult volunteers donated 47.5 hours to the library this month. V. STAFF A. Selected staff received additional training on copiers and printers from MARCO staff on 2/14. B. Adult Services Librarian Barb Kondrick participated in a MELSA Volunteer Contacts interest group on 2/5 and received SignUps/Spaces training on 2/10. C. Youth Services Librarian Bri Belanger met with the ACL Early Literacy Team on 2/8 and received SignUps/Spaces training on 2/17. VI. FOUNDATION A. The Foundation did not meet in February. VII. MISC A. I met with the management team of the Anoka County Library on 2/9. B. I met with the public services team of the Anoka County Library on 2/22. C. On 2/10 I attended training and orientation to SignUps and Spaces, the new room reservation and registration software which will replace Evanced and be used for online registration for library events.
