PROGRAMS a. Bulk loans of materials were prepared for ICS (1 bin for each of 6 classes) and Adventure Club. b. Classes from ICS visited on 2/3 and 2/22 c. Teen Advisory Board (TAB) met on 2/18. Five people attended the meeting. We talked about upcoming programs, discussed what TAB wanted to focus on this year, and started planning for March Madness. d. This month, we continued to open the craft room up after Toddler Storytimes. Families are invited to create, discover, and explore as they participate in a variety of activities that encourage tinkering, building, crafting, and storytelling. e. LEGO Club took place on 2/9. 40 kids and parents built creations out of LEGO bricks. Each participant chose their best piece to display in the children’s department of the library. f. 30 teens and tweens participated in our Anti-Valentine’s Day celebration at the library with games, crafts, and treats. Our newest TAB member first learned of the advisory board at this event. g. Maker Club made pan flutes at this month and learned about sound and vibration. 8 kids experimented with sound and had a chance to measure how loud they could be. h. The Winter Reading Program, Book Warms, continued this month. We are no longer requiring registration for this program to reduce barriers to participation. i. COLLECTION a. Book orders were placed from the following selection tools: Booklist 8/16, SLJ 7/16 and 8/16, Kirkus 8/1/16 and 9/1/16. Orders were also placed in the following areas: replacements and adds and audiobooks. b. Weeding of E fiction continued this month. III. PROJECTS a. Prepared Spring Event Calendar and spring fliers. b. Created TAB agenda. c. Prepared for and promoted Anti-Valentine’s Day Party. d. Planned storytimes for spring. e. Maintained and planned early literacy experiences and teen passive programming for winter and spring. f. Maintained materials and prizes for winter reading program. g. Planned February Maker Club. h. Prepared for Fandoms Unite: Musicals! program. IV. GRANTS, MEETINGS, COMMUNITY a. 2/8: Attended Early Literacy Meeting at LSS. b. 2/11: North Park 4th grade families came to the library for a tour and to learn about resources available to support students. c. 2/17: Attended a Spaces training at RUM to learn about the new event calendar software. V. STAFF a. This month the major projects page staff worked on are as follows: staffing mobile desk, selection tools, processing, and various cutting projects b. Kelly Olson worked on book orders. She also assisted in the many bulk loan bins we had this month. She completed her usual tasks including month end reports, magazines, counting money, receiving books, and purchase requests.
