PROGRAMS a. Bulk loans of materials were prepared for ICS (1 bin for each of 6 classes) and Adventure Club. b. Classes from ICS visited on 4/12 and 4/21. c. Teen Advisory Board (TAB) met on 4/15. Four people attended the meeting. They worked on decorations for the teen area this summer. d. This month, we continued to open the craft room up after Toddler Storytimes. Families are invited to create, discover, and explore as they participate in a variety of activities that encourage tinkering, building, crafting, and storytelling. e. We invited teens to solve riddles and puzzles to unlock the box with the secret antidote and save the world. Our Escape Room program challenged the 4 teens who came to work together as a team and think outside of the box. f. Minnesota Center for the Book Arts presented a bookmaking program to 14 kids on an out of school day. The program began with local artist, Robert Johnson, sharing a book binding project he completed at the Center for Book Arts. Kids took turns reading the poetry included in the volume. g. LEGO Club took place on 4/12. 25 kids and parents built creations out of LEGO bricks. Each participant chose their best piece to display in the display case of the library. h. ECFE Classes visited the library on 4/19, 4/20, and 4/21. Families participated in storytime, got a tour of the library, and learned about ways the library can help support families while building early literacy skills. i. Maker Club explored balloon powered cars this month. 14 kids used recyclable materials to try and make a balloon powered car while practicing their engineer design skills, problem solving, and perseverance. j. COLLECTION a. Book orders were placed from the following selection tools: Booklist 12/16 and SLJ 10/16 and 11/16. Orders were also placed in the following areas: replacements and adds and Summer fill and prize books. b. Weeding of E nonfiction continued this month. III. PROJECTS a. Contacted schools about summer library visits. b. Created TAB agenda. c. Sent summer promotional materials to printer. d. Maintained and planned early literacy experiences and teen passive programming for spring. e. Planned April Maker Club. f. Prepared for ECFE field trips. g. Prepped volunteer application packets and began recruiting volunteers. h. Completed summer program posters and fliers. IV. GRANTS, MEETINGS, COMMUNITY a. 4/13: Assisted Global Academy 6th graders with research at library. b. 4/19, 4/20 and 4/21: ECFE classes came to the library for storytime and to learn about library resources. c. 4/25: Met with Jy to discuss summer and fall 4-H Tech Wizard plans. d. Applied to be a Summer Food Site in partnership with MDE and Youthprise. e. Wrote a letter of support for an MWMO mini-grant in partnership with Anoka County Library. V. STAFF a. This month the major projects page staff worked on are as follows: selection tools, processing, and various cutting projects. b. Kelly Olson worked on book orders. She also assisted in the many bulk loan bins we had this month. She completed her usual tasks including month end reports, performer contracts, magazines, counting money, receiving books, and purchase requests.
