Adult Programs and Displays a. Winter Reads, an adult reading program, wrapped up on Feb. 28. b. Senior Surf, an introductory computer class for seniors, age 55+, was held on Wednesday, February 1, instructed by a certified trainer from the Minnesota Board on Aging and Metropolitan Area Agency on Aging. c. Thirty adults attended a panel discussion by five mystery authors who are members of Twin Cities Sisters in Crime: Midge Bubany, Jessie Chandler, Christine Husom, Barbara Deese and Pat Dennis. Evaluations were all very positive. One patron wrote, “It was super fun! These gals are amazing. Now I want to read all their books. My first experience…(I) hope to attend more.” d. Twenty-two adults attended a book reading and author talk by local mystery writer, Midge Bubany. e. Conversation Circles for adult English language learners met twice a week, on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 1 to 2 p.m., facilitated by two different adult library volunteers. f. Five “Buddy Up and Read” partners met a total of 15 times to practice their English language reading and speaking skills. g. Scrabble Club, sponsored by the Friends of the Library, met twice, on February 7 and 21. h. The Library Book Club met on Wednesday, February 15, to discuss “Kitchens of the Great Midwest” by J. Ryan Stradal. i. Deliveries were made to At-Home Patrons. II. Meetings a. Barb met with the Friends of the Library on Wednesday, Feb. 8. b. Barb met with MELSA’s Volunteer Contacts interest group on Feb. 15. III. Projects a. DVDs, music CDs, audiobooks on CDs, and office and program supplies were ordered. IV. Other a. Eleven adult volunteers donated 47 1/2 hours to the library, working with adult English Language learners, delivering materials to At-Home Patrons, working as computer tutors, creating displays and performing miscellaneous tasks at the library. b. The spring edition of Heights Happenings was delivered to city homes and businesses. c. Barb and Renee went to Spaces and SignUp training at Northtown Library on February 10.
