HomeMy WebLinkAboutTemporary Signage (PZ) Temporary Signage Current Ordinance The current ordinance allows the following for temporary banners: 1.Shall not exceed 3’ x 20’, or 60 square feet in area. 2.Any number of banners is allowed, as long as they are affixed to the building. 3.Signs may not be attached to rocks, bushes, trees or light posts. 4.No permit is required. 5.The banners may be displayed for any amount of time. The current ordinance allows the following for portable signs: 1.Portable signs may not exceed 8 square feet in area. 2.Do not require a permit. 3.Maybe located anywhere on the property. 4.May have as many signs as desired. The current ordinance allows the following for other types of signs: 1.Window signage is permitted as long as no more than 25% of the window is covered. 2.Bright, florescent colors (yellow, green, pink) is permitted in window signs. 3.Neon lighting is permitted in windows and as permanent signage. Possible Changes The following are possible changes related to temporary banners: 1.Require a permit to display a temporary banner. 2.Each temporary banner may only be displayed for 30 days. 3.Banners shall not exceed 40 square feet in area. 4.Only 1 banner may be displayed per business at any one time. In shopping centers, no more than 3 banners may be displayed per shopping center at any one time. 5.Businesses are allowed to display no more than 6 banners per year. 6.Language indicating that temporary banners may not be used for permanent signage. The following are possible changes related to portable signs: 1.Only 1 portable sign per business. 2.Portable signage limited to sandwich board-style signage. 3.Portable signs shall be professionally manufactured. 4.Portable signs shall be located no closer than 5 feet from the property line. 5.Stick-in-the-ground signs are prohibited. The following are possible changes related to other types of signs: 1.Use of florescent colors in painted window signs is prohibited in any of the Design Guideline areas. NOTES:
