HomeMy WebLinkAboutStar Central Liquor Letter March 1, 2007 Direct Dial Telephone No. 763.706.3673 Star Central Attn: Store Manager 4005 Central Avenue Columbia Heights, MN 55421 To Whom It May Concern: The City of Columbia Heights is considering eliminating the Class “A” Liquor License and utilizing the Class “B” license as the primary liquor license for restaurants. Our records indicate that your business currently holds a Class “A” license for the sale of alcohol on the premises. The Class “A” license is an open bar license and allows you to serve liquor without the requirement of selling food. The annual cost of this license is $8,000 plus a $200 Sunday Sales fee. If the City decides to eliminate the Class “A” license, your business would have to purchase the Class “B” license the following year. The Class “B” license allows you to serve hard alcohol, as long as a minimum of 60% of the gross income for your business is in food sales. The Class “B” license has an annual cost of $6,500 plus a $200 Sunday Sales fee. The City of Columbia Heights requires all Class “B” Liquor License holders to submit a statement prepared by a certified public accountant that shows the total gross sales and the total food sales of the restaurant for the twelve-month period immediately preceding the date of filing renewal applications. Please schedule a time to contact me to discuss this situation in further detail. I would appreciate any questions or comments regarding this matter and would be happy to set up a meeting with you if you feel one is necessary. If you have no questions and understand your potential requirements, I would appreciate a phone call to let me know. You may contact me at (763) 706-3673. Sincerely, Jeff Sargent City Planner
