I. PROGRAMS
a. Bulk loans of materials were prepared for ICS (1 bin for each of 6 classes) and Adventure Club.
b. Classes from ICS visited on 4/4,4/5,4/6,4/7,4/26,4/27, and 4/28.
c. We celebrated an out of school day with Family Art Day on 4/1. 28 kids and adults came to the
library to create together.
d. Make & Take Tuesdays continued this month. This session is focused on our after school crowd
and takes place in the afternoons. Each Tuesday afternoon we open up the Activity Room for
people to make a craft.
e. Anoka County Child and Teen Wellness came to our last week of storytime to talk to families
about nutrition.
f. LEGO Club was popular as always: There were some new faces along with regular attendees: It’s
great to see kids cooperating and sharing pieces as they build. 13 kids attended this month.
g. READ Dogs took place on 4/11. We had a last minute cancellation due to a recovering dog, so
only one team was present. We had 6 kids read to a dog.
h. On 4/20 and 4/21, families from the Early Childhood Family Education center took a field trip to
the library. I did a storytimes for 29 children and parents, gave a tour of the library and signed up
for library cards. All families received information about the library, a book of rhymes, and a
Mcphail music cd to promote early literacy skill building at home.
i. On 4/22, 6 children, parents, and caregivers gathered for a Block Party. Children ages 2 through 5
developed math, science, motor, and social skills by playing with various types of blocks. Parents
and caregivers received a handout with tips for playing with children and the importance of play
in early literacy. It was a lot of fun and several people asked me when the next block party would
be.
