I. PROGRAMS
a. The Teen Advisory Board met on Monday, August 1st to discuss fall programming and plan
the Cupcake Wars event.
b. Our READ Dog teams came in on Monday, August 1st to give kids a chance to practice their
reading skills.
c. We had 25 preschoolers and their families attend our STEAM Storytime on Tuesday,
August 2nd. We started with a story about water, talked about all the different places you
can find water in your life, and ended with experiments.
d. On Tuesday, August 2nd we had our last Tinker Space of the summer. 20 kids came to
create Artbots. They used their creativity and collaborative spirits as they used
toothbrush motors, pool noodles, markers, and other miscellaneous supplies to create a
robot that drew. No two bots were alike, and it was an amazing experience to see the kids
move through frustration by utilizing problem solving skills in order to become successful.
Kids and parents left this program excited about what they accomplished. One mom even
said, “I think this is the coolest project we’ve ever done!”
e. Our last Wacky Wednesday was on Wednesday, August 3rd. Star Michaelina did a book
themed magic show that was enjoyed by 99 kids and parents.
f. Fandom Club met on Thursday, August 4th to celebrate Harry Potter and the release of the
latest book. We tested our Harry Potter knowledge, talked about our favorite books and
movies of the series, and watched fan created Harry Potter videos.
g. 4-H Tech Wizards met for the last time of the summer on August 4th as well. At the end of
the meeting they voted on what projects they’d like to focus on in the fall. The winning
topics were robotics and video game design.
h. We celebrated our hard-working Volunteens on Monday, August 8th with cake, pizza, and
certificates. Families came and had a chance to connect. Volunteens donated over 280
