II. COLLECTION
a. Book orders were placed from the following selection tools: Booklist 5/15/16 and Kirkus
5/1/15 and 5/15/16. Book orders were also placed in the following areas:
Replacements/Adds and Easy Readers
b. Weeded EJ Fiction and Audiobooks.
III. PROJECTS
a. Prepared programs for November and December.
b. Created Winter Programming fliers and posters.
c. Began spring program planning.
d. Created and implemented fall displays in children and teen area.
e. Created early literacy and teen passive environments for winter.
f. Explored options for implementing Homework Help in the library.
g. Prepared Bulk Loans for ICS and Adventure Club.
h. Updated bulletin board for winter quarter.
IV. GRANTS, MEETINGS, COMMUNITY
a. 11/2: Visited two ECFE classrooms and talked to 37 children and caregivers about
library resources after delivering a storytime.
b. 11/3: Visited one ECFE classroom and talked to 20 children and caregivers about
library resources after delivering a storytime.
c. 11/3: Presented with Heather Kopp (ISD 13 Media Specialist) about building
literacy skills at home during Valley View Family night to 20 kids and parents.
d. 11/4: Visited one ECFE classroom and talked to 25 children and caregivers about
library resources after delivering a storytime.
e. 11/9: Attended Early Literacy STEM training at Brooklyn Park Library. This was put
on by the Science Museum and State Library Services. I learned about different
ways to incorporate STEM learning in the library and plan to implement some of
what I learned this winter.
f. 11/10: Presented at All Staff Meeting regarding youth behavior, reader’s advisory,
and program registration.
g. 11/17: Provided a tour of library to 3 Hennepin County children’s librarians.
h. 11/23: Met with a community member about collaborating on a children’s
program this spring.
i. 11/23: Met with Abby Sundquist, ECFE parent educator, about winter
collaboration.
V. STAFF
a. This month the major projects page staff worked on are as follows: selection tools,
shelving, withdrawing, and cleaning up the kids area.
b. Kelly Olson worked on book orders. She completed her usual tasks including month end
reports, magazines, counting money, bulk loans, receiving books, and purchase requests.
