P.Building tours were given to the Anoka County Library Board and senior staff on 10/7, Anoka County Library staff on 10/14 and 10/21, and to MN Department of Transportation Library and retired Department of Education and Metronet staff on 10/28. Q.Two Scrabble Clubs were hosted by the Friends on Tuesday evenings, 10/4 and 10/18. R.4-H Tech Wizards met for four sessions on Tuesday afternoons. S.Five sessions of toddler storytime were held on Monday mornings. T.Four sessions of preschool storytime were held on Tuesday mornings. U.Four sessions of Baby Read, Baby Grow were held on Thursday mornings. V.Three classes from Immaculate Conception School visited. W.Volunteer reading “buddies” met with adults learning English throughout the month. X.Conversation Circles for adults learning to speak English were offered on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Y.Adult volunteers donated 52 hours to the library this month. V.STAFF A.Library Aide Michelle Wermerskirchen resigned but asked to continue as a substitute Page. Filling the Aide position will be postponed until Pages have been hired. B.Open positions (three) for Library Page were posted from 10/10-10/24/2016. Applications were reviewed and seven applicants were selected for interviews in early November. C.Full-time staff received mandatory city safety training on 10/11. D.Children’s Librarian Brianna Belanger presented at Columbia Academy’s English Language Family Night on 10/7 and Highland Elementary’ s Latino Parents Nights on 10/11. She attended Anoka County Library Early Literacy and Youth Engagement Team meetings on 10/21. VI.FOUNDATION A.The Foundation met on 10/19. VII.MISC A.I met with the management team of the Anoka County Library on 10/6. B.Kelli Bourgeois and I made a presentation to the Council on 10/24 requesting compensation increases for part-time temporary library staff – Pages, Aide, and Library Supervisors.
