II.ECHNOLOY

A.RFIDssecurity gatees continuedto alarm. Sttaff are trainning patrons how to correectly
use thee self-check stations so thhat items boorrowed are rreflected on their libraryy
accounnts and have the security tags turned off prior to exiting the bbuilding. Wee are
also woorking with part-time staaff to correcttly dischargee materials sso that the seelf
checkeequipment wworks correctly.
B.On 7/229 3M Bibliootheca staff pprovided admministrative training for me, Nick
Olberdding, and Steeve Silverdahhl of the Infoormation Serrvices deparrtment. We ccan
nowmmake adjustmments to machhine displayys screens, wwhat is printed on receipts,
and cann access reports of use.
III.CCOLLECTIONN

A.Adultpprint books wwere selected from the FFebruary 15 issue of Libbrary Journal
andbooks with Jully publicatioon dates weree also ordereed. Children’s selectionss
weremmade from thhe January offBooklist.
B.Minimmal weeding wwas completted in adult nnonfiction 000- 500 to innsure sufficiient
shelf sppace for neww materials.

D.An art pprogram for teens, Permannent Marker DDyed T-shirts,, was held onn 7/7.
E.Four sessions of 4-H Tech Wizards were held.
F.Drop-In Book Clubs for elementary students were held on 7/11 and 7/18.
G.The Teen Advisory Board met on 7/11.
H.A Mad Science Optical Illusions program was held on 7/12.
I.The Library Board met on 7/13.
J.A “Books and Bites” book club for teens was held on 7/14.
K.The Nonfiction Book Club for adults met on 7/15.
L.Stormwater 101: an educational immersion for kids was taught by Mississippi Watershed
Management Organization staff on 7/19.
M.Members of the Friends hosted a Scrabble Club on 7/19.
N.The Book Club met on 7/20 to discuss Elizabeth Peters’ “Crocodile on the Sandbank.”
O.Volunteer reading “buddies” met with adults learning English throughout the month.
P.Conversation Circles for adults learning to speak English were offered on Thursdays.
Q.Mini-Adventure Club toured the library on 6/21.
R.A fandom club for teens was held on 6/21.
S.Mad Lab for kids was taught by Textile Center instructors on 6/ 26.
T.Two American Girl Tea Parties were held on 7/27.
U.A Manga Club for teens was held on 7/28.
V.A group of children from a Minneapolis Parks and Recreation center visited on 7/28.
W.The children’s librarian taught three sessions of Toddler storytime.
X.Four sessions of Preschool Storytime were offered; one featuring Emily Cramble from the
Fire Department.
Y.Adult volunteers donated 43 hours to the library, assisting with programs, serving as
greeters, working with adult English Language learners through Buddy Up and Read and
Conversation Circles programs, and delivering library materials to At-Home Patrons.
V.STAFF
A.Children’s Librarian Brianna Belanger and Adult Services Librarian Barb Kondrick
promoted library programs and services at the Tyler Street “Eat and Greet” program on
7/20.
B.Nick Olberding began as Clerk Typist II – Adult Services on 7/5. He was introduced to the
City Council on 7/11 and received technical services training from Anoka County Library
staff on 7/13.
C.Barb Kondrick met with the ad hoc committee assembled to plan public relations and
publicity arising from the All American Cities award.
D.Bri Belanger met with the Youth Enrichment: Summer Experience team of the Anoka
County Library on 7/22.
E.On 7/27 Winnie Coyne met with the city team planning the website redesign.
VI.FOUNDATION
A.The Foundation met on July 13. They finalized plans for the spaghetti dinner fundraiser in
September; wrote a letter to the City Council announcing their grant to fund the RFID
tags, self-checks, and security gates; decided to receive a 2016 payout from investments at
RBC; and to prepare a new promotional brochure.

VIII.MISC
A.I met with the Director and Facility Maintenance Supervisor of the Anoka County Library
on 7/26 to plan for delivery in the automated materials handling era.
B.I met with the Anoka County Library Management Team on 7/7 and 7/21.
