A.Informmation Servicces staff arraanged traininng for full-timme library sttaff on new
technology, includding public coomputers, prrinters, copieers, and miccrofilm readeer.
Staff wwill train partt-time staff wwhen they arre scheduledd to work.
B.RFIDsself check sttations and security gatess were installled during tthe week of 66/20.
Full-timme staff wass trained in thhe basic use and troubleeshooting of problems with
the selff-check statiions.
III.OLLECTIO
CCNN
A.Print books were oordered weekkly through JJune 17 and then suspennded to alloww
vendorrs to incorpoorate the libraary address cchange and tto allow stafff to move thhe
th
collection. Adult seelections weere made fromm the Februuary 15 issuue of Booklisstand
KirkusReviews.AAdult books wwith June puublication daates and popular paperbaacks
th
were allso ordered. Children’s sselectionswwere made froom the Deceember 15 isssue
ofKirkkus Reviews and the Januuary issues oofKirkus Reeviewsand Scchool Librarry
Journaal.Books nomminated for the 2016 Maaud Hart Loovelace awarrd and other
populaar titles were added in addvance of summmer readinng demand.
B.Weedinng was suspended this mmonth and wwill resume ass time permiits in the neww
buildinng.
IV.PROGRAMS

C.Orientaation of teen vvolunteers occcurred on 6/144.
D.Librar staff opene the building for the first time at 4 p.m. on June 24 to test compuers

E.A gran opening celebration was held on 6/25. Over 1,800people visite the library n the

first fulll day of operaation.
F.Toddle storytime as held on 6/7.

G.A dropin book club for kids was held on 6/27.

H.A prescchool storytimme heavy equiipment encouunter was heldd on 6/28.
I.A 4-H STEM Adventure program on bees was held on 6/28.
J.Historical fiction author Colin Mustful presented an overview of his work and promoted
his new book, “Ceding Contempt” on 6/28.
K.A volunteer reading “buddy” met with a student learning English.
L.The first Wacky Wednesday program of 2016 was held on 6/29 and featured the
Minnesota Zoomobile.
M.A fandom club for teens was held on 6/30.
N.The 4-H Tech Wizards program started on 6/30.
O.Adult volunteers from the Friends assisted with the grand opening.
V.STAFF
A.Children’s Librarian Brianna Belanger visited Valley View Elementary to promote the
summer reading program and to encourage kids to continue to practice reading during the
summer recess.
B.Adult Services Librarian Barb and Children’s Librarian Bri participated in the grand
opening of the Huset Park Splash Pad on 6/1 and promote the library.
C.Clerk Typist II – Adult Services Renee Rewitzer retired on 6/10.
D.An all-staff meeting was held on 6/15 to orient part-time employees to the building and to
prepare for opening.
VI.FOUNDATION
A.The Foundation did not meet in June.
VII.GRANTS
VIII.MISC
A.On 6/1 I met with Erek Woods and Kevin Horvath of Copeland Trucking to devise a
preliminary plan for moving the library collection. Copeland worked with library staff on
6/9-6/10 to pack up the collection and offices. On 6/13 and 6/14 the collection was
transported to the new building and unloaded onto shelving. Library staff spent the
remainder of the week shelf reading and shifting materials in preparation for the grand
opening.
B.Thirteen boxes of library discards and unusable donations were shipped to Better World
Books this month.
C.I met with the Anoka County Library Management Team on 6/1.
D.I met with reporter Kassie Peterman from the Sun Focus on 6/10.
E.I completed a proposed 2017 operating budget.
