City of Columbia Heights | [z,©©ä th 820 40 Ave NE Ph: 763-706-3690 -706-3691 www.columbiaheightsmn.gov To: Renee Dougherty, Library Director From: Brianna Belanger, Subject: March Operational Report Date: March 30, 2016 I.PROGRAMS a.Bulk loans of materials were prepared for ICS (1 bin for each of 6 classes) and Mini Adventure Club. b.Classes from ICS visited on 3/14, 3/15, 3/16, and 3/17. c.Teen Advisory Board (TAB) met on 3/7. Seven teens attended the meeting. We talked about volunteer opportunities, planned for the March Madness event and wish list, and pulled books for the TAB is reading book display. d. e.Make & Take Tuesdays continued this month. This session is focus and takes place in the afternoons. Each Tuesday afternoon we open up the Activity Room for people to make a craft. f.We had guests from the Police Department at our Preschool Storyt children and adults in attendance. Officer Joe Sturdevant came t also brought a squad car, so after stories we were able to go ouside and see that along with the equipment police officers use. g.LEGO Club was popular as always. great to see kids cooperating and sharing pieces as they build. h.Area schools were on spring break this month. We had a number of during this out of school time. Both Minecraft Unplugged and Mi kids bonded over their shared interests. Teens attended two eve, Create It At Your Library and March Madness Book Party, where they created circuit crafts games. i.Program counts are as follows: Children's Program Program Date Attend. Orders were also placed in the following areas: replacements and adds, board books and music CDs. b.Weeding of E nonfiction and J nonfiction and EJ Fiction commenced this month. III.PROJECTS a.Prepared programs for March. b.Planned and advertised Minecraft Unplugged c.Created TAB agenda. d.Planned storytimes for summer. e.Performed inventory on summer reading program materials. f.Maintained and planned early literacy experiences and teen passi programming for spring and summer. g.Submitted summer programs for library events calendar and added to eVanced online calendar. h.Prepared summer teen volunteer materials. i.Submitted Legacy program choices for summer. j.Worked on summer program schedule for June through August. IV.GRANTS, MEETINGS, COMMUNITY a.3/3: Tabled at Columbia Academy Book Fair/ Conferences. Shared on about volunteering and programming at the library to 30 people. b.3/17: Represented library at Community Baby Shower at the Family Center. 50 people, many for whom English is a second language, attended this event. I was ab event about the library and baby storytime. [Letter to] [Date] Page 3 c.3/18: Met with Mississippi Watershed Management Organization to active . d.3/30 and 3/31: Visited ECFE classes where Arabic, Amharic, and Ssh were the dominant languages to share information about the library and lead circle time. I reached a total of 15 new people. V.STAFF a.This month the major projects page staff worked on are as follows: selection tools, RFID tagging, and weeding. b.Kelly Olson worked on book orders. She also assisted in the many bulk loan bins we had this month and began weeding the 700s in J nonfiction. She completed her usual tasks including month end reports, magazines, counting money, receiving books, a c.Michelle Wermerskirchen checked materials against Better World Books, planned for Make and Takes, assisted with selection tools, and created a new nonficti book display.
