Tantanella Member at Large From: Brianna Belanger, Gary Peterson Subject: January Operational Report Council Liaison Renee Dougherty Date: January 28, 2016 Library Director I.PROGRAMS a.Bulk loans of materials were prepared for ICS (1 bin for each of 6 classes) and Mini Adventure Club. b.Classes from ICS visited on 1/11, 1/12, 1/13, and 1/14 c.Teen Advisory Board (TAB) met on 1/4. Five people attended the meeting. We did some get-to-know-you activities, discussed program ideas for summer, decided on Teen Tech Week activities, and talked about volunteering. d.Make & Take Tuesdays continued this month. Each Tuesday after st the Activity Room for people to make a craft. Craft time is eage kids and it is a good opportunity to practice cutting, coloring, and writing skills. e.LEGO Club took place on 1/14. 24kids and teens built creations out of LEGO bricks. Each f.The Winter Reading Program, Book Warms, continued this month. Currently, 73 kids and 14 teens have signed up and committed to reading and using the libr g.January was another Youth Read Down month. For every 15 minutes library, we take off 1.00 in fines. This year we had 38 youth participate. They read for a total of 23.75 hours and had $95.00 fines waived. h.Program counts are as follows: Children's Program Program Date Attend. III.PROJECTS a.Prepared programs for January through March. b.Created TAB agenda. c.Scheduled all Wacky Wednesday performances for June and July. d.Planned storytimes for January through April. e.Maintained and planned early literacy experiences and teen passiprogramming for winter and spring. f.Planned for Teen Tech Week in collaboration with TAB. g.Explored opportunities for play spaces in new library. h.Maintained materials and prizes for winter reading program. i.Prepared cultural programming narrative for 2017 ACCFE grant application. j.Submitted spring programs to Heights Happenings newsletter. IV.GRANTS, MEETINGS, COMMUNITY a.1/7: Attended Library Goal Setting meeting for 2016-2017. b.1/8: Attended ACCFE Grant Meeting to discuss and plan for 2017 g c.1/11: Presented on the importance of reading and BookWarms at th d.1/15: Met with Youth Community Engagement Team (formerly Summer at LSS. e.1/20: Met with Early Literacy Team @ LSS. f.1/21: Attended Valley View EL Family Night. Meet with over 100 kids, teens, and caregivers to share homework help resources, library events, and g. V.STAFF a.This month the major projects page staff worked on are as follows: selection tools, processing, and weeding. b.Kelly Olson worked on book orders and withdrawing old magazines. the many bulk loan bins we had this month. She completed her us month end reports, magazines, counting money, receiving books, and purchase requests. c.Michelle Wermerskirchen planned make & take crafts for the winte, helped with selection tools, and sent out press releases for upcoming programs.
