BUILDING MAINTENANCE AND EQUIPMENT A. Orkin preformed a bi-monthly pest inspection and treatment on 12/11. B. Fidelity Building Services buffed hard flooring on 12/18. II. TECHNOLOGY III. COLLECTION A.Print books were ordered weekly. Adult selections were made from the September issues of Booklist, Library Journal and Kirkus Reviews. Large print books were also ordered. from the April issue of Booklist, the th May 15 issue of School Library Journal, and June and July issues of Kirkus Reviews. B.Weeding of adult nonfiction continued in the 300s. Weeding of adult Mystery continued. Weeding of adult large print fiction was completed. Weeding continued in juvenile picture books. IV. PROGRAMS A. The Friends of the Library met on 12/2. B. The Library Board met on 12/2. C. The Teen Advisory Board hosted an Afterschool Family Game Night on 12/7. D. A presentation by two of the police officers who visited Lomianki was held on 12/8. E. LEGO Club was offered on 12/10. F. The adult Fiction Book Club met on 12/16 for a holiday celebration. G. The Adult Non-Fiction Book Club met on 12/18. H. A Star Wars Activity Day was held to coincide with the release of Star Wars: The Force movie on 12/18. I. BookWarms, the winter reading program for youth, began on 12/28 to coincide with the holiday school break. J. A Fandom Celebration for teens was held on 12/30. K. party for families was held on 12/31. L. Four classes from Immaculate Conception School visited. M. Bulk loans were prepared for Immaculate Conception School. N. Conversations Circles, facilitated by a native English speaker, were offered for language learners throughout the month. O. One-on-one mentoring for adults learning to read was offered by Buddy Up and Read volunteers. P. Materials were selected and delivered to At-Home patrons. Q. Adult volunteers donated 40 hours of service to the Library this month by leading conversation with English language learners, mentoring adults learning to read, delivering materials to at-home patrons, preparing materials for the book sale cart, and facilitating book clubs. V. STAFF A. I interviewed applicants for the Library Page position on 12/1, 12/2, and 12/3. Conditional offers of employment were extended to two candidates. B. I met with Adult Services Librarian Barb Kondrick for her one-year performance evaluation on 12/3. C. Library staff attended the City Holiday Party on 12/9. D. I met with Clerk Typist Renee Rewitzer for her one-year performance evaluation. E. Renee Rewitzer attended a meeting of circulation lead workers of the Anoka County Library. F. Childr at Highland Elementary on 12/9. She attended an Anoka County Early Literacy Team meeting on 12/16. G. Adult Services Librarian Barb Kondrick attended a meeting of the Anoka County Library Arts and Culture Programming Team on 12/15. VI. FOUNDATION A. The Library Foundation hosted their annual film fundraiser at the Heights Theatre on 12/12. They met on 12/14 to assess progress of individual solicitations. A major gift of stock was received from an individual who has asked to remain anonymous. VII. GRANTS VIII. MISC A. I met with Kevin Hansen and HGA designer Jane Dedering on 12/9 to finalize shelving layout for the FF& E bid package. B. I visited the job site for the new library to observe the steel reinforcement and pouring of the concrete subfloor. C. I met with the Anoka County Library Public Services Team on 12/23. D. On 12/30 I attended a reception for Marlene Moulton Janssen upon her retirement as Anoka County Library Director. IX.
