HomeMy WebLinkAboutOperational Report for Bri Belanger City of Columbia Heights | [z,©©ä th 820 40 Ave NE Ph: 763-706-3690 -706-3691 www.columbiaheightsmn.gov št Renee Dougherty, Library Director C©š’t Brianna Belanger, {Ò,†;-·t November Operational Report 5·;t November 25, 2015 I.PROGRAMS a.Bulk loans of materials were prepared for ICS (1 bin for each of 6 classes) and Mini Adventure Club. b.Classes from ICS visited on 11/2, 11/3, 11/4, and 11/5 c.TAB hosted Family Game day at the library on 11/2. There were 8 enjoyed a variety of board games together at this unstructured d-in program. d.On 11/6, 13children, parents, and caregivers gathered for a Block Party. Children ages through 5 developed math, science, motor, and social skills by p of blocks. Parents and caregivers received a handout with tips f and the importance of play in early literacy. e.The Textile Center of MN taught a Learn to Knit class for adults on 11/9. We had 12 adults and teens in attendance. Each partic a ball of yarn and knitting needles. Many people asked about when the next class would be. f.We had guests from the Fire Department at our Preschool Storytim There were 28 children and adults in attendance. Zach Picard and Emily Cramble came to tell stories and sing songs. They also brought their firetruck, so after stories we were able to go outside and see that along with the equipment firefighters g.LEGO Club took place on 11/12. 10 kids and teens built creations out of LEGO bricks. library. h.I held special storytimes for four classes from the local Head Start program. 65 children listened to stories, sang, danced, and learned about things theydo at home to get ready to read. Many of these children live in Columbia Heights but have not vis library before. These field trips introduce children to the libr visit again with their families. i.Program counts are as follows: Program Program Date Attend. Orders were also placed in the following areas: replacements and adds b.Began compiling list of possible purchases for teen urban litera readers. c.Weeding of E fiction continued this month. III.PROJECTS a.Prepared programs for December and January. b.Prepared for Head Start Field Trips, Columbia Academy Outreach and Early Childhood Storytime Parent Association Event c.Planned for winter early literacy activities and passive programming for d.Created Hunger Games Display. e.Researched and compiled ideas for play spaces in new library. f.Finalized and submitted library events calendar for printing. g.Sent winter program information to school contacts and began adv Bookwarms program. h.Began planning for spring. i.Continued familiarizing myself with community resources and orgas. IV.GRANTS, MEETINGS, COMMUNITY a.11/3: Met with Julie from Anoka Child and Teen Check-ups to learn about program and partnership opportunities. b.11/13: Met Heather Kopp, Elementary School Media Specialist and Secondary School Media Specialist to discuss collaboration opportunities and learn more about what they do. c.11/19: Represented library and conducted a storytime at the Early Childhood Parent Association Cookies and Cocoa Night. Approximately 30 children and their parents attended this event. d.11/20: Attended Summer Reading Team meeting. e.11/24: Represented library at parent education class REACH at Columbia Academy. I spoke to approximately 40 parents about how the library can support their middle school students. V.STAFF a.This month the major projects page staff worked on are as follows: selection tools, repairs, processing, and weeding. b.Kelly Olson worked on book orders and event contracts. She also assisted in the bulk loan bins we had this month. She completed her usual tasks incl reports, magazines, counting money, receiving books, and purchas c.Michelle Wermerskirchen worked on the winter events calendar, make and take craft planning, and sent out press releases for upcoming programs.
