We made Elephant and Piggie masks and read books by the author. e.Make & Take Tuesdays continued this month. Each Tuesday after storytime we open up the Activity Room for people to make a craft. Craft time is eagerly anticipated by the kids and it is a good opportunity to practice cutting, coloring, and writing skills. f.Teens gathered to celebrate the single lifestyle at the Anti-Valentine’s Day Party on 2/13. Word about this program spread quickly around Columbia Academy thanks to Teen Advisory Board members and we had 15 teens in attendance. Teens made poison green duct tape roses, decorated hearts to tear open for candy inside, played candy conversation heart BINGO, built catapults to launch hearts, and decorated broken heart cookies. I saw a lot of new faces at this fun program and was able to introduce myself to some of the teens. g.We had a special guest at storytime on 2/17. A dental hygienist from Angell Family Dentistry came to storytime to talk about the importance of brushing and flossing and read a story about going to the dentist. After storytime, all attendees received a free toothbrush, timer, and floss from Anoka County Child and Teen Checkups. 31 people attended this special storytime. h.The Winter Reading Program, Book Warms, concluded at the end of this month.
