I.Adult Programs and Displays
a.The Winter Jackets Winter Reading for Adults program continued through Saturday, February
28. Displays included a “Winter Jackets” bulletin board, “Think Warm Thoughts,” “Baby, It’s
Cold Outside!” and “Winter Escape Plans” book displays. 174 adult book recommendations
were received and eight adults received Book Lover’s Calendars for 2015, in weekly prize
drawings.
b.Three adults attended “Senior Surf”, a hands-on computer training class on Wednesday, Feb. 4.
c.The Nonfiction Book Club was held on Friday, 20. Seven adults attended. Favorite titles
included “The Perfect Gentleman: a Muslim Boy Meets the West” by Imran Ahmad, “Dirty War:
the World is a Battlefield” by Jeremy Scahill, “A Short Guide to a Long Life” by David Agus,
“Before the Trumpet: Young Franklin Roosevelt” by Geoffrey Ward, “ I could Pee on This and
Other Poems by Cats” by Francesco Marciuliano, “ John Muir: Nature’s Visionary” by Gretel
Ehrlich, “Can’t We Talk About Something More Pleasant” by Roz Chast, “Blood and Thunder”
by Hampton Sides and “Stiff: the Curious Lives of Human Cadavers” by Mary Roach.
d.The Library Book Club met on Wednesday, Feb. 25 to discuss “The Road” by Cormac
McCarthy. Fourteen adults attended.
e.Volunteers worked 47 ½ hours in February. Tasks included facilitating Conversation Circles and
serving as Reading Buddies for adults learning English, serving as computer tutors and
completing various tasks in the library.
f.At-home patrons received a total of 40 items, delivered by volunteers and staff.
g.Eight adults attended an Honoring Choices Minnesota program, to learn how to decide who they
want to make medical decisions for them in case of an emergency, and also how to make their
own specific wishes honored.
h.Eighteen adults attended a history program, “America in WWI,” presented by local author and
historian John Cox. John discussed a recent visit to America’s battlefields in France, including
Belleau Wood, the Meuse-Argonne Offensive of 1918 and the site of the Lost Battalion. He and
his wife had laid a wreath for a fallen ancestor at Meuse-Argonne American Cemetery in
Romagnes, the largest American cemetery outside of the United States. They also visited
Verdun and the crash site of the infamous “Red Baron,” Manfred von Richthofen. An added
bonus was provided by a woman in the audience whose grandfather had served in France during
World War I. She brought his enlistment papers and photographs from that time period.

a.The Library Board met on Wednesday, Feb. 4.
b.The Friends of the Library met on Wednesday, Feb. 4.
III.Projects
a.Weeding continued for music CDs and children’s and adult DVDs.
b.Orders were placed for library supplies, DVDs and adult audiobooks.
c.The annual report for 2014 was completed.
