I.Adult Programs and Displays
a.“Coming Soon…..January-February 2015, Winter Jackets, Winter Reading for Adults” and
“Baby, It’s Cold Outside!”
b.Three adults attended “Senior Surf”, a hands-on computer training class on Wednesday,
Dec. 5.
c.The Nonfiction Book Club was held on Friday, Dec. 19. Five adults attended. Favorite
titles included: “My Family and Other Hazards,” by June Melby, “The Rush: America’s
Fevered Quest for Fortune, 1848-1853,” by Edward Dolnick, and “Deep Down Dark: the
Untold Story of 33 men buried in a Chilean Mine and the Miracle That Set Them Free,”
by Hector Tobar.
d.The Library Book Club met on Wednesday, Dec. 17. Sixteen adults attended.
e.Three adult learners worked on their English reading and speaking skills with three adult
volunteers.
f.At-home patrons received a total of 45 items, delivered by volunteers and staff.
g.The Friends of the Library collected 133 children’s and teen’s books for Project
Bookshelf, to be distributed through SACA.
II.Meetings
a.The Library Board met on Wednesday, Dec. 3.
b.The Library Foundation met on Wednesday, Dec. 3.
c.The Friends of the Library met on Monday, Dec. 1.
III.Projects
a.Weeding continued for music CDs and children’s and adult DVDs.
b.Orders were placed for library supplies and children’s and adults’ DVDs, music CDs and
adult audiobooks on CD.
c.A two-day book sale, raising approximately $120, was held in the activity room on
Thursday and Friday, Dec. 18 and 19, with assistance from the Friends of the Library.
IV.Volunteers
a.A new adult computer tutor and technology volunteer started to provide assistance on
Monday mornings to patrons needing help with basic computer tasks, such as signing up
for a computer, setting up an email accounts and printing documents.
b.Eight adult volunteers completed 60 hours of volunteer time—delivering books to at-
home patrons, pricing books and refilling the book sale cart, assisting with the book sale,
serving as book club facilitators, serving as reading buddies and conversation circles
facilitators for adults working on their English language reading and speaking skills,
assisting with children’s programs and completing various tasks at the library.
