I.PROGRAMS
a.Bulk loans of materials were prepared for ICS (1 bin for each of 7 classes)
b.Classes from ICS visited on 9/23, 9/24, and 9/25.
c.Teen Advisory Board (TAB) met on 9/8. Three people attended the meeting, two were new
members. We did some icebreakers, discussed program ideas and marketing ideas. Teens filled out
a survey about library space and services for teens.
d.Our Back to School Open House was a success. I chatted with 29 kids and adults about library
services, including Homework Rescue and other databases. We ended the night with a storytime.
e.LEGO Club started back up on 9/11. 20 kids and teens built creations out of LEGO bricks.
f.The fall session of storytime started on 9/16. There were some repeats and some new faces. We
read stories about going back to school, rainbows, and things that go.

II.COLLECTION
a.Book orders were placed from the following selection tools: Kirkus 5/1/14, Booklist 5/15/14, and
SLJ May 2014. Orders were also placed in the following areas: replacements and adds.
b.Weeding of J fiction began this month.
III.PROJECTS
a.Prepared programs for September and October
b.Shifted in YA fiction, J fiction, J & YA graphic collection.
c.Prepared schedule for ICS bulk loans and class visits.
d.Created book list for middle school English class visit.
e.Planned storytimes.
f.Created flannel boards for storytime.
g.Planned programs for December through February for Heights Happenings.
h.Created flyer advertising TAB and send updated information to iLander.
i.Created open-ended play space where QJ shelving was removed.
IV.GRANTS, MEETINGS, COMMUNITY
a.9/9: Met with representative from Minnesota Reading Corps who attended Back to School Open
House. Worked with her to place ad for after school homework help at library. Have met with
potential tutor to start in mid-October.
b.9/10: Served food at library foundation’s spaghetti dinner fundraiser.
c.9/24: Held special storytime for ICS preschool class.
d.9/25: Held special storytime for ICS Kindergarten class.
e.9/25: Represented library at English Language Family Night at Columbia Academy. Approximately
70 students and their parents were in attendance.
f.9/30: Represented library at English Language Family Night at North Park Elementary.
V.STAFF
a.This month the major projects page staff worked on are as follows: selection tools, and weeding.
b.Kelly Olson worked on book orders. She also assisted in the many bulk loan bins we had this month.
She completed her usual tasks including month end reports, magazines, counting money, receiving
books, and purchase requests.
c.Michelle Wermerskirchen put up three new displays and sent out press releases for upcoming
programs.
