I.PROGRAMS
th
a.Bulk loans of materials were prepared for ICS for Prek, Kindergarten, 1, 2, and 5 grade classrooms,
Adventure Club and Mini Adventures, and ECFE.
b.Classes from ICS visited on 4/8, 4/9, 4/10, and 4/30.
c.The first Teen Advisory Board (TAB) meeting was on 4/7. Four people attended the meeting. We did
some icebreakers to get to know each other, ate snacks, brainstormed program ideas, and talked
about the purpose of TAB. Two more teens have signed up since the first meeting!
d.We had a family storytime in the evening on 4/8. The theme was mud. The parachute was a big hit.
e.Teens had fun at the Minute to Win It Party on 4/11. Nine people attended and played the
challenge games. One of the comments was, “You should do this again!”
f.Terry from Children and Teen Checkups handed out information about nutrition to kids and parents
after Baby Read Baby Grow on 4/3 and after Toddler Storytime on 4/14.
g.READ Dogs started on March 31. Leny and Packer read with the children signed up. One boy
brought his dictionary from home to show Packer. The final session of the spring was 4/28.
h.Officer Terry Nightengale was our special guest at storytime on 4/15. He read stories, sang songs,
and helped with a flannel board about community helpers’ hats.
i.The Minnesota History Center presented a program about Maud Hart Lovelace on 4/19. People of
all ages attended; there were 23 people there for the event.

II.COLLECTION
a.Book orders were placed from the following selection tools: Kirkus 12/15/14, 2/1/14 and Booklist
1/15/14. Orders were also placed in the following areas: replacements and adds.
b.Weeding of QJ collection was started this month.
III.PROJECTS
a.Prepared programs for May and summer.
b.Submitted content for summer edition of Heights Happenings.
c.Sent advertising to moms group about police storytime.
d.Prepared agenda and activities for TAB meeting.
e.Prepared application for teen summer volunteers.
f.Completed forms for my 6 month performance evaluation.
IV.GRANTS, MEETINGS, COMMUNITY
a.4/3: Attended CYP Unconference at Stillwater Public Library. Topic was preschool programming
and storytimes.
b.4/11: Represented the library at the Valley View Elementary spring carnival. Over 700 people
attended this event.

c.4/14: Attended 21 Century grant meeting and presented library activities for the quarter.
d.4/15: Met with Early Literacy Team about early literacy goals in Anoka County Libraries and
upcoming storytime evaluations.
e.4/16: Met with Summer Reading Committee to discuss final details for summer reading program.
f.4/25: Attended Autism 101 training at Mississippi Branch Library.
4/30: Visited second grade reading block at North Park elementary to talk about the library and
g.
to do a storytime. Approximately 75 children attended.
V.STAFF
a.This month the major projects page staff worked on are as follows: helped with READ Dogs,
selection tools, and weeding.
b.Kelly Olson worked on book orders. She also assisted in the many bulk loan bins we had this month.
She completed her usual tasks including month end reports, magazines, counting money, receiving
books, and purchase requests.
c.Michelle Wermerskirchen entered all summer programs into the Outlook calendar, put up two new
displays, and sent out press releases for upcoming programs.
